6.2 IW bug - airport names

AS SHOWS ON IDLEWILD - AS SHOWS ON DEV & LEGACY SERVERS

New York (JFK)     should be  New York John F. Kennedy (JFK)

La Guardia (LGA) should be New York La Guardia (LGA)

Newark (EWR) should be New York Newark (EWR)

Washington (IAD) should be Washington Dulles (IAD)

Washington (DCA) should be Washington Reagan National (DCA)

Dallas (DFW) should be Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW)

Dallas (DAL) should be Dallas Love Field (DAL)

This is in Scheduling, Inventory, Pricing Tool, Load Monitoring, Flight Numbers, basically everywhere with the exception of the Airport overview page and search results (searching for airport)

I'd say that's as intended.

How can that be intended to have two airports with the same name without knowing which airport you are selecting?

Example:

Ticket price adjustment tool.

How do you know which DALLAS you are going to adjust prices for?

In any case on Dev it's OK, problem is on Idlewild... both are supposed to be the same release.

As it's only for some airports ... strange ... doesn't look right.

It's not a bug, it's a feature to safe space, especially in cases like the connection analyzer, where screen-width might be limited. You always have the airport code to see the difference. In captions or other locations where space is not an issue, the full name is used.

Note that not all airport names have been adjusted yet, so some "multi-part airport names" might still be the old, long version while some others have already been adjusted.

Oh, and Idlewild received the latest version of the geo data today, which might not be in the other test servers yet.

NOT TRUE - see post #3 above - no code, just name

In captions or other locations where space is not an issue, the full name is used.

On affected airport, Airport name is listed full, Station name is "short", also airport HTML header is "short"

Most of the airports I listed in post #5 keep the usual name throughout everywhere

martin, are there no more updates to the community when data of AS is updated? I can remember from early 2014 (last time I was active) that you announced updates to AS data in the forum.

@rubiohiguey2000: Sorry, missed your screenshot of the dropdown-field. If you find locations around the game where crucial info is missing or the long name could be used, let me know. There are a lot of locations around the game where this needs to be changed. I'll look into the ones you've mentioned here asap.

@Eisheis: In general yes, when it affects game-critical data like fixes to airport and aircraft parameters. The names are, imo, more or less a visual thing. That said, I used the latest data extract for Idlewild for technical reasons (don't want to go into detail here), so some changed data might have found their way onto the server without an "official announcement". But maybe sk can provide one belatedly.

Some areas already come up to mind where long names can be used

Pricing took

Load Monitoring

Scheduling

i think you should  know JFK is New York John F. Kennedy (JFK). When people book tickets to New York, they know those names of three large airports served for New York area. If it's showing Teterboro Airport, maybe we need to have New York Teterboro Airport (TEB). it's also really obvious for DFW, everyone knows it's Fort Worth. If you see Los Angles (LAX), you will never say it's Long Beach Airport.

However, the price adjustment should be changed so that IATA code can be seen.

In fact, on your later list, Tokyo is not fine at all. Narita is never called as "Tokyo." Yes, maybe the old name "new Tokyo airport" includes "Tokyo," but it is not allowed to be showed as Tokyo since it's no where near Tokyo. Narita is its name, the ONLY name.

I will accept Osaka because Itami is called in different way by ANA and JAL, so Itami airport and Osaka International can be both accepted.

Oh, and Idlewild received the latest version of the geo data today, which might not be in the other test servers yet.

Did Quimby got the same patch? I see those names abbreviated on Quimby as well.

@TWAair - the matter in question is not “not knowing” the codes, but rather convenience and visual clarity. Having the full name removes the confusion and avoids possible mistakes. I don’t know how you, but myself I have scheduled at least once after a bottle of Malbec.

Dear martin,

thank you for the information. But when you mentioned "geo data" I also throught of corrected geographic coordinates, which in fact would have an impact on flight time / fuel consumption / air service fees. If the changes do not affect game mechanics, then I think it is very fine how it happened.

hi, just for share information,

I find another problem today to in Idlewild, I was repayment my loan to AS bank, my cash is taken but the list of loan is still there.

this is the case, I have 10M AS$ loan, when I repayment 5 M$, my loan is still 10M AS$, I don't know it's just happen to me or another player get this to,

thank you

By "geo data" I just meant updates and additions to countries, subdivisions and airports in general. Same as always. Whether locations of airports have changed I don't know right now, but I don't think so.

Did the 5 million get subtracted from your account?

@ sukma - please open a new thread for your bug, thank you

Did the 5 million get subtracted from your account?
