A little confused....

Hi guys, so I'm new to AS but it looks really fun.

So, I started with 10M, and my first purchase was a Cessna Caravan. My HUB is in London Heathrow. I have a station in Amsterdam aswell. My flight is everyday from London - Amerstedam, and Amerterdam - London.

However, I see no one really booking my flight.

Also, I accidently bought a terminal! So I only have about 6M right now, do I need to reset, or can I make my money back pretty quickly?

Also, London and Amsterdam have really good Market for passengars, however, when starting out do you want to be at big Airports or small airports? Was my choice of Aircraft any good?

Hi,

So first of all a reset is advisable.... for next time....

  • Do not buy (cash/credit) until your an advanced player....lease is cheapest option
  • LHR-AMS-LHR is likely to be a very competitive route. Putting one of the worst aircraft on it will guarantee no bookings
  • Suggest trying a regional jet....CRJ or EMB
  • Bookings only happen once every 24 hours, you can see what time on each airports page

Hope that helps!

so if we bought, do you reccomend restarting and leasing?

I would recommend restarting if you have acquired aircraft with credit instead of leasing being that you have just started out. Also as a friendly suggestion stay away from major airports like LHR JFK LAX and so on as a starting hub until you get familiar with AS because those airports fill up fast with competition and will limit your growth.

I would suggest starting up in a smaller country with smaller, less used, around 6 bar airports and maybe fly prop planes like the Q400 or the ATR72/42 to bigger airports. An exaple would be Lihue (LIH) to Honolulu-LIH-OGG-LIH-KON-LIH

YES restart if you brought on credit. I did write the pros/cons of this before but can't find it so here we go again...

This is based on a EMB195 available in gatow used aircraft market, using a 1% interest week

What we can see

Week 0 - Week 77

Leasing Cheaper, then Credit, then Cash

Week 77 - Week 190

Leasing Cheaper, then Cash, then Credit

Week 190 - Week 474

Cash Cheaper, then Leasing, then Credit

Week 475 - Onwards

Cash Cheaper, then Credit, then Leasing

CASH

As simple as it comes, you pay a large cash amount, you own aircraft 100%. May or may not sell at full value.

LEASING

Pay a weekly even sum, generally achievable, can return aircraft at any point.

CREDIT

Pay a down payment, then every week a weekly installment + interest on however much of the aircraft you still don't own

Hope that makes sense

Ian

Many airlines though like to switch their aircraft before they are 2.4 years old so if they have this policy, then of course it is better to lease than to buy at all (credit or cash).

Most airlines switch before 5 years of age anyway, so in case you buy cash, you've got about 60 weeks of "use" where you save money. You can then try to lease out or sell the old (5 year) aircraft.

hi, can somebody understand me, how much do I have to pay per week excluding 5.5%? If I will pay only 10%

Thanks

I assume that you have created a new airline and you will not be eligible for credit. Don't buy airplanes until you are very big airline.

Leasing is the much better option.

ok:) thx

Although I can’t remember what the duration of a loan is, the interest rate quoted is per week, not per annum. The interest payments alone at 90% financing and 5.5% interest equates to 1.35million/week/aircraft, which is significantly higher than the weekly cost to lease.

Edit: Oops, didn’t realize this was an existing thread. This is the thread with the nifty chart that says everything.
