Advice on Interlining Contract

Hi everyone,

A question about Interlining Contracts. When another company approaches you with an interlining contract, what do you normally need to check to figure out if this is a good opportunity or not?

Many thanks,

Costas

You should look that it does not compete greatly with you. You should make sure that you have a major route to their hub or they have one to yours. Also if it is a company which is continents away, make sure they have good routes in there own region. It might be Easier to say like this:

Company ‘A’ operates in England to airports AA, AB, AC, AD, AE,AF and AGCompany 'B ’ operates in Canada to airports BA, BB, BC, BD, BE, BF and BG. And has a long haul from AA to BA

If they Interline the Candians can now access other minor airport in the UK and vice-versa

So always look at the possible domestic and international connections.

Very helpful answer… thanks a lot…

Also how do you stick that very nice logo at the end of each of your postings???

Have a look here to create our own siganture: http://community.airlinesim.aero/topic/473-ende-airline-signatures-airline-signaturen/

I would also suggest looking at the cost of the IL contract, and see how much you would gain financially (otherwise theirs not much point of IL-ing). Remember the more the connections, the more staff members required to maintain the IL contract. This would be visible in the Interlining page (on the same menu as Office, Maintenance, etc).

For example, if an IL with me costs $100,000, you need more transfer pax coming in from me to justify it.

Priorities for IL-ing should be with main hubs - try and get a good IL partner before you start a major long haul route with a big aircraft. Send them a message saying you’ll be starting a new route to their hub, accompanied by an IL offer. This will usually work - most players are quite keen. That will make your route (most of the time) successful from the start. Try and get IL partners that serve regions that you don’t cover. Don’t IL with airlines close by - no point exchanging traffic with them.

Hope that helps.

Saad

Yeah…it depends…If you just start a new airline and can’t provide long-haul service, IL with a nearby partner who has a long-haul fleet to serve some transfer pax is reasonable.

I stand corrected :) thanks Gulf Eagle

Stranglely I’m IL-ing with Gulf Eagle at BAH even though i’m at DXB. Sorry for the hypocritical-ness.

I am the guy who focus on regional service now and sign IL with all major operators in the region.

No matter how many times i tried it i couldnt get it right… anymore advice?

Can anybody advise on how to calculate the interline agreement cost prior to sending the proper request? How is the number of personnel calculated? Has it something to do with the airline (you want to interline with) size or what other parameter?

I only IL with premium accounts, because a trial  account may be gone in two weeks. If they request with me I always wait to see if they upgrade, and if they do then I look at other factors.
