Just a thought here, but what if we had a world with double slots, all the new featues and all, but instead of starting with magically gifted $10 Million, we start with a loan of $10 Million at a reasonable interest rate. This would probably add a new level of realism, as usually you start a business with a business loan. It’s just an idea, but what do you think?
So starting like in a general Tycoon game (Airport inc. , Railroad tycoon, etc). Well, i like it.
Yeah, pretty much like that.
New players already have difficulty surviving with current 10 mio, while having them pay the amount back will make the game more difficult for them.
I second to this idea.
I mean, 10 million did not fall easily from the sky.
Tony Fernandez started AirAsia with debts.
It would give much more realm to the game.
But why double slots, though?

Basically because this has been the trend of late. I would be fine either way.
Sure, but usually a loan comes with a repayment schedule, either explicit or implicit (investors are either happy to keep lending you the money or demand it back at some point). How would you model that?

Payment plan. Say 100,000 per week or month. Not sure I’m just an idea man LOL.
For an easy implementation I’d vote for the normal repayment plan as existing credits have.
For a more sophisticated solution, I’d vote for a credit that has no repayment for the first 3 months, only interest.
And if we think it further ahead, it could be even a variable amount for the initial credit. “Empty” (to be defined what that means) or small countries might provide a higher startup amount or slower repayment schedule to attract investors. Let’s say if you start in Vietnam when no other airline is there, you might get AS$ 20M or 30M to make it more attractive for new players. Or possibly if there’s only one big player in Canada, you could get attracted by a higher startup amount to help breaking the monopoly.
Big, crowded countries might limit the startup credit on the other hand as they normally have enough attraction by itself.
Or why not allow existing players set out a loan for a startup (maybe cap it at AS$ 50M) in a certain region in return for an alliance membership?
