Angry Pax, Aircrash, Disasters

I agree that more excitement should be added to the game. Weather on route should be added to make delays etc… Random accidents no matter what the maintenance level is…

This would be very difficult because of many factors. One factor is that (for example) that a crash at one airline could have much more impact than on another company. Just imagine that one airline suffers the crash of a BN Islander as thei only aircraft and next week another airline suffers the crash of an A380…

I think that even more "realistic" flight ops would necessitate more functions: own maintenance, own training of pilots and cabin crews, administrations who take an eye of the airlines and the fact that some parts of the world are more prone to bad weather, jungles and mountains while other regions have perfect and dry weather with flat deserts most of the year. "Real time weather" would be nice but it would be very difficult to deal with the mess in case of huge delays due to weather…

I think that all airlines operating here at airlinesim in the interest of safety and I would be shocked to see that the only way to maintain a very safe ops was the "best" contractor for maintenance and to see a message in the morning that one of my airplanes disappeared while flying a scheduled flight from Jakarta to Manado with a confirmed message that my plane crashed and all people perished. The actions to get a replacement is the least problem. What about insurance? "Reaction of the media", image?

You see - impossible, nearly impossible…

Regards

nothing is impossible :) Ok lets say not necessarily crashes but suffers gear damage or flaps damage etc plus nearly every aircraft is prone to delays of 5 min up to a canceled flight due to weather - this is what forms the real airline world…not a perfect schedule.

:) Maybe I feel unable to cope with thousands of passengers stranded at Jakarta airport because of cancellations :) Try to explain to the passengers why all my T-tails are sitting on the apron or at gates :P Maybe I would release a statement that the tails must be washed to remove the soot generated by the engines  A total mess in the morning, OMG ;)

After the clean-up the routine will continue, just look at my nice flight attendants doing a safety-briefing aboard "my" MD-80:

(BTW I replaced the American Airlines seat-cushions by newer ones :P ) but I had the rush to put my aircraft into service as soon as possible ;)

Well, i can see one way this would be terrible…small airlines will suffer much more then large airlines…i own a rather small and growing airline and if one of my aircraft was to crash…i wouldn’t be able to afford all of the costs related to the crash and the costs of getting a new plane.

I think that this system would penalise the smaller airlines and it would give a bigger advantage to the larger airlines.

I am a newbie here and is running a startup cargo airline, but I was also surprised to know that there was no weather in this world!!

I think implementing weather/maintenance related delays-cancellations would add more realism to the game(and add a reason to why you need more reliable maintenance contractors).

Since no aviation related stuff is perfect without delays.

For weather delays, if the problem is visibility related, we could implement random weather at airports(based on real-world statistics) and set the catergories of airports like in real life.

For Example(since I live in Korea) ICN is CAT IIIB(or IIIC as a matter of fact)rated so it allows aircrafts to land in visibilities down to 50m, while nearby GMP only allows planes to land if the vis is above 175m(CAT IIIA), but is so close with ICN that it almost always gets effected by the fog as well. As a result, airlines flying to GMP instead of ICN would have their equipment and passengers stranded there.

This could be simulated quite easily if the servers have enough capacity to do so.(I am not talking about implementing real world weather from the network, but simulating in game weather.)

Winds and precipitation could have an effect on aircrafts’ schedules as well if they can be simulated correctly, and CBs and turbulence en-route could have an effect on flight ratings and arrival time-if simulating these are possible.

Also, for maintenance related cancellations, backup flights could be done by aircrafts with extra maintenance ratio, or operators would be able to choose to skip maintenance of another plane and send it flying the route instead - which could result in the backup aircraft breaking down as well.

The virtual ‘airline employees’ could book backup and transfer flights for the player as needed (I don’t know weather this is possible, just a suggestion since they already cancel and compensate flights).

Although these changes will bring some randomness into the game, the effects could be prevented by the players by flying their planes to airports with better options and keeping their aircrafts well maintained.

I also think random crashes-breakdowns and creating insurance companies is a good option, but I don’t know how insurance companies can be modeled realistically into the game world.

All this might seem too complex, but the game itself is already complex because it aims to create a ‘realistic airline simulation game’, and the random weather and maintenance related delays wouldn’t be too hard to create.

No airline’s schedule is ever perfect, and these changes could make the game more realistic. If they can be implemented of course.

Best regards :) Murphy.

Well, we could make starter airlines immune to crashes, cancellations and delays(well maybe not weather related ones, but at least maintenance related ones.)

Actually, if new airlines were immune to these for say, about a month, it would be even beneficial for them.
