As soon as the Meig improvement news got to me, I was down here checking out many of the newly added aircrafts. As much as I appreciate the grand efforts of the team that put the updates and upgrades together, i would have to say that on this one issue so far they have goofed up - The performance characteristics of the Antonov AN-148!
How in the world could a small Regional Jet with a MTOW capacity of 9 tonnes pull off a 5800km trip with only a 17% payload penalty?? The performance capabilities currently accredited to the AN-148 (particularly the AN-148-100E variant) is not only superman worthy and unrealistic but also outrightly outrageous!
Here is a link to a more realistic and reliable performance chart for the aircraft type. It is a ‘manufacturer claim’ from the IFC website however experience leads me to believe that even this claim is at least 10%-15% too optimistic especially with regards to Range Vs Penalty representation!
