with the new cabin configurator in place I have a lot of problems with server errors. This is especially tiresome when I have to click 100 planes just to find out I have to click/select em all again :-) Maybe there is an option to apply a cabin configuration to ALL planes I own?
@caithes: and what do you do if you have different types in one fleet?
I had to select the respective type one by one, resulting in 100+ clicks… then you select ‘apply configuration’ and because of the massive fleets the server can’t handle it and gives you an error back. Very annoying!
I also keep different fleets, but these are based on hub and not based on aircraft type.
So if you want to change configuration on one aircraft type you can’t simply select “ALL” but have to select every aircraft manually. That’s what I wanted to say.
I'm not a programmer, but seems to me a command like that would be extremely memory hungry. First, of course you couldn't just apply one cabin configuration to your whole fleet if you had more than one type of aircraft, so there would have to be a couple fields where you would input the information (aircraft type, new aircraft configuration name/type). Then the server would have to "look up" your individual planes and match them with the field and then apply the changes.
Like I said, I'm not a programmer so I don't know how the information is stored on the server or how it would have to go about looking up your planes to do this, but if someone has, say, 300 of one type of aircraft, that's a lot of hunting down and then changing. And for some airlines, 300 is a low number of aircraft to have.
What it really comes down to is whether the AS team wants to put it in. From what I've noticed in playing this simulation the past few years, they don't add a lot of stuff to streamline the system. Not to mention the more important note... it takes a long while to implement things like this with a small group like AS. You'd be better off just doing it yourself.
As for the problem of the server errors.. couldn't you just do, say, 20 at a time? I know, takes forever, but if you have a big airline, you should do the things necessary for a big airline.
Another thought... if choosing 100 planes gave you server errors, don't you think an automatic command that chooses more than 100 planes might do the same thing?
I have several fleets per hub: like Peking dense, Peking medium and Peking low. Each fleet operates one type of plane. Small hubs only have one (mixed) fleet, but these don't require to click a 100 times anyway.
