Assign a flight from one aircraft to the other one

Is there a way to move one flight (say, #23 JFK-ORD on an EMB 120) to another one ( same flight number on EMB 145) without a hassle? 

Currenctly I cancel the flight on the first aircraft then create a flight number on the second aircraft. I am not sure this is a great way of doing it as it takes a long time and effort.
