I was just checking my connections and saw something wrong (connections from another airline):

As you can see, on the route from Dublin to Athens, the connection time at CDG is only 1 hour. According to the airport information it is supposed to be at least 90mins before any connections can be made.
It don't have to be a "via" flight ...... the flight comes from DUB and lands in Paris. If the same Airplane is used to continue to ATH then the passengers will not leave the Airplane so there is no minimum transfer time for those on board. Nevertheless all other Passengers from other flights that will connect with the ATH flight will need the min transfer time of 90 min.

Then I might have misunderstood it. I thought it needs to be a "via" flight for the passengers to connect without getting out of the plane, otherwise the "via" function is just a cosmetic feature.

You did misunderstand. Via is mostly cosmetic, except I believe for Yamawhatever flights in Africa.
And it's one of the most underestimated features - as far as I am concerned. And as long as you are situated in an YD-country - or - are one of these bigshots who hasn't any free flightnumbers left (I am not talking of myself). :D
