Cargo airlines in Riem

That's the obvious trick, yes. But I can see at least see one trick to further reduce expenses.

What? Wages at the absolute minimum? I do that for a ground handling company. But for an airline if that's so, it will come to bite them in the rear part soon enough.

Whenever i start a new airline wages are always kept at minimum, as i start making enough money then i put them up real high.

I am starting cargo ops as well. But with one other purpose - give conpetition on those routes where they earn their money. Only way to ruin their plan, when as dont.

err.. giving them competition wasn't my purpose, my purpose is simply to get a piece of delicious cake.

they also nice people as they allow my new startup to interline with them, feeding some load to me.

instead of ruin people's game how about playing together? :)

No evil laughter?

what evil? i mean no harm :)

Did the same yesterday and thanks to this thread aswell. :D Even though im not that keen on cargo airlines im giving it a go. My passanger airlines on Riem are just for fun and see how far and how big i can grow compared to others.

maybe we can form some alliance, anyone?

everybody who follow suit, please post your cargo airline here, let's play!

I think that both of you missed a trick. I'll won't give away that trick though.

don't worry, keep it for yourself.. at the moment I'm happy with the progress.

The trick is to interline and to charge double the rate, from what I understand from this thread. But I may be wrong as I have not reviewed that case in detail.

to my understanding, the trick is called first mover advantage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-mover_advantage

they are the first occupant of the HKG-ANC market which has high O/D demand, with demand so high and supply is limited,

they are able to command premium prices which will gradually reduced as market get saturated,

so squeeze as much cash as you can before the well run dry, then continue grabbing other market as you go

while interline will definitely help fill some empty space on your freighter, it doesn't help you command that premium prices.

think of it like a gold rush :p http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_rush

wanna add something from my previous reply on this. as  I said before, my purpose was not to give them competition, instead get a piece of the cake.

imho, new comer giving them competition is like mosquito sucking your blood, feel itchy initially but you can simply slap them dead.

the mosquito must grow big enough before thinking to suck you dry, so instead of giving competition this early, why don't play along and grow first.

instead of hurting them, you hurting other new comer actually, like me :p

the cargo giant rating has grow over time that your highly discounted price won't suddenly throw them out of the market

they also have so far build some connection network that they can withstand the reduced O/D demand as well as making money in other routes.

while you hit them with price war in one route, they still making money on other high O/D demand market that you have not enter yet as you don't have enough aircraft yet.

while you and other new comer slowly grow in one single route, they making millions on others route.

if you ever intended to give them competition, cooperation is the way. so reconsider hitting other new comers with your strategy and collaborate instead.

Oh well . . . someone has just reported my airline, I have no idea what for ?!?! But I suppose that’s what I get for starting this thread and admitting to reporting other airlines who looked at least a little bit suspicious !!!

Thanks to all the players who are starting up cargo ops to finally give some much needed competition to the big cargo airlines though. I thought about it, but sorry, cargo just seems so boring ;-), and I’m just too focused on my present operation to make a major change in strategy at this time.

One thing I must mention however is that the AS Team really, REALLY, need to add cargo into the Aircraft Evaluation tool, they don’t even let you evaluate cargo aircraft. That is something that has been missing from this game for far too long. They also don’t list how many cargo pallets aircraft carry (they only list how many kg’s which isn’t very helpful), so you have no idea know how much you can sell until you’ve actually bought the aircraft and scheduled it on flights. You can easily get the impression that narrowbodies like the 737-900 HGW are far more profitable across the Atlantic than widebodies like the 787-8 because Aircraft Evaluation doesn’t take into account that the 737 only takes 12 cargo pallets where the 787 takes 128 . . . that’s a pretty big difference !!!

Divide the cargo capacity by 100 and you will immediately see how many cargo units you can transport on a particular plane.

OK, that helps to know, but it would still be a lot easier if cargo was just included into the Aircraft Type Evaluation tool like it should have always been. . .

I agree, I never flew cargo and just tried it on a test server and I found out lack of aircraft evaluation to be very limiting factor. Had to do a lot of manual calculations, which is not good… it is virtually impossible to do clear cost calculations just a very rough estimate by using fuel burn, fuel price, maintenance cost for passenger type from same fleet and some basic route costs that are included in the performance tool. I wholeheartedly agree that the evaluation tool should be able to calculate cargo.

There are “bugs”, edge exploits and small tricks in all areas of the game that more experienced, crafty and dedicated Airline managers will use to gain an edge. Most you cant find information on but need to experiment alot to figure out yourself and gain a deeper understanding for how the game in general and ORS in particular works.

btw how's anyone doing in blood sucking in HKG-ANC? I am determined to join this blood sucking party soon  :P

I am determined to join this blood sucking party soon  :P

Though I wouldn't go on the HKG-ANC route. There are plenty of routes that you can fly on with an air freighter. With 100% LF you'll be sh***** money anyway.

Wondering if the same trick will apply to all long hauk passenger routes…

Anyone bother to try out HKG - LHR/DXB - JFK all econ charging max price? :stuck_out_tongue:

Theoratically same should apply for ANC - MEM, MEM - LHR i think?

that's not a trick but simple economics.

I fly long haul pax only on Riem and my profit is amazing. I however kept the prices relatively low compared to other airlines that fly long haul. I also provide better seats which make my Rating high. I am now starting to wonder if it matters to have the rating high already. I also have no idea on how hard or easy it is to get from a low rating to a high one. I always thought you needed the high rating to prevent pax from booking with another airline. I am really starting to doubt this now. I like providing a good service though, so I will not change my tactic. I am fairly new to the game though so I am trying to learn how the system works ;)

Are you talking about ORS rating or the image rating?

It’s easy to go from low to high ORS rating, bit quite difficult and time consuming to go from low image to high image rating.

I was knocked out of Jeddah with my first Riem airline by one of these cargo only airlines who used their cash to begin passenger operations using a whole bunch of long haul aircraft. It sucked and I decided to fold rather than compete but I think it's a legitimate and smart tactic. I just started somewhere else using a different model.

Take care. There're still plenty of opportunities around. Hope you can find somewhere without these behemoths

Oh,hey there.

I ought to explain the so called “multi account” issue, which actually doesn’t exist…

As a part of routine activities AS is adopted to be one of the training/teaching approaches for MWEA team at our school…to let students understand how a commercial system works and how agreements bound two enterprises together…

Silly me,a veteran of AS,for convinience, registered new and conformed accounts for them…which brought inconvinience for both AS management and me myself(normally a player won’t charge credits to 4 different accounts…it costs…)

So it’s not a cheat…I prepared all the paperworks in case of validation.

As a result 2 accounts are shut down and 2 other accounts are operated by even different people. That’s it.

[quote name=“Greg73” post=“69314” timestamp=“1427645969”]It seems that the mentioned user has at least 4 accounts. Especially the similarities of the airline names is suspicious. Other than reporting them and let the team handle it, there’s nothing we can do.

PS: And don’t forget. There’s no point in cheating. If you get caught your AS$ millions will be taken away from you.

Seems the AS crew allows one person running multiple airlines interlining with himself…I reported two such airlines run by user with username “jerryasim2” and “jerryasim3” basically has to be the same guy, but no longer reported and still IL between the two airlines :S[/quote

A person will do whatever they can to gain an advantage, provided the cost and/or consequences aren’t too high to outweigh the benefits of their actions. For one person paying for multiple accounts, I refer you to one player with a total of 21 accounts for the purposes of gaining an advantage over other players. All were closed.

A real-life agreement to the real-world terms and conditions takes precedence over a fictional agreement to interline relations in a game world, unless you have obtained permission from Simulogics in advance. The AS team would have informed you of what you can and cannot do, and likely suggested ways to better demonstrate your goals, had you contacted them before. If the AS team’s instructions had been heeded, then this thread would not have been posted, let alone reach three pages.
