Connections allowed in any direction or not ?!?!

I have looked far and wide for this information and I’m pretty sure I saw something specific about it once, but can’t for the life of me remember where . . .

anyway, the question is :

Can your flights CONNECT in ANY direction ??? For example, it is pretty obvious that a flight from AMS to NCL will connect to a flight from NCL to JFK as they are in the same direction i.e. they are both WESTBOUND. However . . . what about a flight from DUB to NCL, which is an EASTBOUND flight, will this connect to a NCL to JFK flight as well ??? In real life this is very common, people connect from an eastbound NCL-AMS flight to a westbound AMS-JFK flight and fly right back over NCL on their way to the States. However, AirlineSim is not real life, it is a game and this kind of connection might simply not be possible.

So let’s say a DUB-NCL to NCL-JFK connection is not possible because they are in completely different directions, what about a MAD-NCL to NCL-JFK connection ??? MAD to NCL is a NORTHBOUND flight, so it’s not the complete opposite direction of the NCL-JFK flight but a connection in NCL is nonetheless a little bit out of the way when travelling from MAD to JFK. Is there a certain parameter (I would describe it as an “angle”) perhaps where a connecting airport is too far out the way to allow successful connections between two other airports ???

Or is the whole thing a lot more complicated i.e. yes, connections in different directions are possible but they depend on a number of different factors, for example, if there are no direct flights from DUB to JFK or all the direct flights are sold out etc and the only option to get to JFK is via NCL or another airport to the east of DUB, then these connections will occur as passengers obviously have no other choice. So in most situations, passengers will not make these kind of connections as these itineraries will likely be longer and more expensive than a direct flight or a connection in the same direction i.e. a NCL-DUB to DUB-JFK connection is preferred over a NCL-AMS to AMS-JFK connection.

you have very strange fantasies about the directions. every pax has the

possibility to travel everywhere (when he/she ;) want to).

via the ors the best route will be calculated individually with the factors

time, price etc.

when you have good prices, service and short transfer times you get

a good ors rating (but it’s no promise for good bookings)
