Why are we not able to chose engine options on the planes? A380 has 2 options in real life. It might even be better to have a fleet of 3-4 types of aircraft with the same manufacturer of engines for commonality which is what some airlines do. It would add to the sense of realism?

Maybe because nobody has implemented that feature yet?
But more seriously - I think this is mostly due to a lack of data. If there would be on average 3 different types of engine available per aircraft type , the amount of required consumption and range data would triple.
It’s been suggested like zillion times and I think it’s on a long to do list to implement some day in the future.

The search button is questionable at the best of times, I typed in "traffic rights" the other day and 0 outcomes. Other times it works, but its not a reliable search. Although I admit I didnt use it this time.
Because you searched wrong way. I searched for traffic rights now and got a zillion results.
The search engine doesn´t work, if you not signed in. (just a hint - i often not signed in automatically, when i follow the link from my game world)
The embedded search functions in most internet forums - not just this one but nearly all of them - are pretty much useless at best. It's usually a better idea to go to google and type the forum adress and the search term.
Make sure to know where you are searching and chose the appropriate search area.
