I wwould like to see that there is a +/- 10-30 minute time frame to arrive at the slot like placing it in a holdingpattern or even reduced speed flying. Aircraft dont always fly at a fixed speed, if they need to slowdown or speed up to make there slot. This would make i more flexable for changing aircraft that have a faster speed but dont fit in the slots. Sometimes you want to upgrade the size of the aircraft but there is no way because of the speed.
Hi,
thank you for the idea, which has been requested some times already. We have this in our long to-do list, but we need to rework some important parts to do so. Therefor we will have this one day, but don't expect this to be within the next months.
I have suggested this as well some time ago, and I give it thumbs up +++
Hopefully the AS staff can get to this feature soon, or move it up the priority list
I do not like this idea. If you are a new player, yes it sucks that you cannot get a DOH-ORY slot (on Pearls, for example) because you don't have enough slots in either airport to juggle. However, as a large player I can juggle some DME slots to get one of the last two slots at DOH which takes work!
Imagine if I did not have to juggle and just threw one of my many planes at the "almost" full airports, now you have even *LESS* chance to of getting that sweet, sweet slot pair at DOH or ORY.
This would actually be a net negative for new players, in my opinion.
I am against this as well - not having this feature, actually keep some slots open, for new players and new routes.
If I have suggested some slot restrictions for large airlines back in the thread where I talked about it. It would be a bit more-complicated-than-10-minute-coding but could be done.
Basically, to sum up, it would restrict large players from using timeshift tool based on the slots already used (by them). For example, you could not use timeshift to depart/arrive your home airport/hub if you are a major player there (e.g. own more than 20% of slots). You could not use timeshift tool if you are a major operator at that airport. So if you already have 20 daily flights LHR-CDG you would not be able to use timeshift tool. If you have base in FRA you will not be able to use timeshift tool to arrive at FRA from your destination (so even if you could get outbound flight, you could not get inbound flight). This would allow timeshifting and would also not be against new players (and I am myself new player).
I'm not in favour of this either. Slots are valuable resources and at high demand airports finding appropriate slots is part of the game.

I think this is a great idea if the timeshift tool adds to fuel burn cost (not necdesarily reduce range, that would be too complicated) of the flight using it!

Why do you think this would affect new players more negatively?
The suggested change is also open to new players, so they can use it to find slots easier as well. Will there be less open slots available? Yes, ofcourse, but a new player will also have this tool available making the fewer slots easier to match which should result in no net change.

Securing slots at large competitive airports takes time, and I would see this as the greatest advantage to larger, normally more established, airlines. They are more likely to have spare resources (planes/money) to fill any remaining slots, and therefore they will not be available to other players.
Winning the last remaining slots at a large airport should be difficult. I'd prefer to have things as they are.
