Maybe I have overlooked this in the forum or in any announcement, but why was the business class fare increased?
Okay, for long-haul flights a comparable business class seat needs much more space, but on short-haul it's possible to roughly have the same amount of seats with a comparable rating, but the increase in the business class fare might make business class a cash cow (making it again easier to make money).
I am aware that my observations are only one day old and things might happen, but looking at my bookings this is the obvious guess I have right now.
Well you mentioned it already. You have the chance to configure your aircraft with larger seats and to keep the balance if you do so, the standard price had to be adjusted to the larger seat requirements. if you use smaler seats on short haul, it is another thing. The competition will show if you can stand this product against another airline maybe offering better seats.
Another question regarding the increasing of fares.
I have now raised fares on all routes to match the new default Business/First class fares, while I notice that many competitors have not yet increased their price settings yet so they still operate far below the new levels. Should I worry in this case for losing alot of passengers over this? And what if they will just keep the old price settings for weeks? I suppose this could kill enterprises who did raise their price levels?
2. Maybe. Depends on demand and the route profile. Making profit on shorthaul routes became a lot easier (i.e. way too easy) while making profit on longhaul routes became a lot more difficult (i. e. almost impossible). But that's not a problem because everybody has the same problem. (<- Sarcasm)
If you change your Number of seats, then it will affect your Standard Prices. This is always the case and does not need a special anouncement. On the other hand we have to consider 2 Prices. the Lowest Limit in the game is the minimum Price for each class. You can find that if you go to Flight details and then look at the bottom where it says Minimum Price ...... You should not go below that values for each class. Then there is the Standard Price. You can go below the standard Price but you may make no Profit. So for now most players did not increase because it is time consuming and most like to see the effects but very soon you will see the adjustments will come because you will not be very profitable otherwise ....

I know this. I meant the change in standard prices. I’ve checked and re-checked, my flights are not less profitable than before because of this change in standard Business price, and I have not changed the prices because demand has not suffered any change. So, the only thing I see different is the text that says standard price on the route management screen, which now is vastly superior to the recommended price for the routes… and by recommended price I mean one which is competitive and profitable.
I managed to get almost the same configuration with the new cabin configurator, even got two extra seats in them. I even have a little more (prob the 2 extra seats) profit without changing the price. As a result I have a 5 bar price rating (was 2 before).
