This is just a thought and forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but I think adding some kind of inter-game media function would possibly help players take a friendly interest with each other and open up more communication. We currently have the little news bar down the side when we log in and on the overview page, but I feel that this is rather uninformative. Other online simluation games have media/press releases incorporated and I would like to see something like that here. Having said that, I would like to see something rather unique and sophisticated to match the level of AS.
I could be shooting for the moon here, but instead of the regular ‘type and post’ kind of systems I have seen and can become clutter and annoying, I was thinking of a more professional monthly publication that takes in all players and servers in one. It would be more like a online magazine/newspaper (in PDF fromat?) with all the usual topics included. For eaxmple:
-editorial
-airline in focus
-months new airlines and defunct airlines
-players voice (where a chosen player can write an article)
-Real World (an article with info on real airlines/airports etc)
-Hot topics (what is hot in the forums)

At the moment I am going off the top of my head, but as I said I feel this would give AS a whole new dimesion and . I admit it would be a big task, time consuming and would require a team. I personally would love to help in setting something like this up, but want to know people’s feelings and general input and feedback (includes staff as well).
In the early days of AirlineSim, publications like this existed. Usually not for very long periods of time, but at least there were some initiatives and the community liked it a lot. These came from fans though, not from the team. In an attempt to replicate this we attempted to provide a platform for this kind of thing officially on our very own servers, letting anybody post news. Problem was: It was a lot of work for us (even though we only had to screen the submitted posts) but it never really took of. It just wasn’t the same thing as a few enthusiasts putting together an actual magazine-style publication.
So if you plan on doing something like this again:Go ahead! You will get our support whenever you need it - like for interviews, internal stories, etc. - but you have to and should be doing it independently to give it any chance of working out. At least that’s what our experience says
Thanks Martin and Jocrylic. Its nice to hear some feedback on the idea and have support on the idea. Being relatively new to AS since the beginning of the year I had no idea that there had been a similar type publication. I was wondering whether anyone still has a copy of those publications. That way I take a look at what people were reading and guage what is good and what is not. I can also completely understand the teams point of view by making it independant and that was my original idea when I posted the it. The publication team would consist of small group of enthusiasts running it and trying to make it as fresh as possible and take the pressure off the AS team (they are busy enough as is). Now since the team has pledged its support I am going to put it out there to construct a small team as I am keen to get this off the ground.

I am happy to do most of the writing, but I really need someone with skills and know-how in design (I am still a beginner ) for doing up the front cover and editing/placing photos and images in text. I dont foresee it being that time consuming, but yeh, I’m just no good at it.

I have never talked in this forum but something that they have to do is create some place where we can create a web page of the enterprise. it will be awesome:) and another thing is that i sent a massage to my cousin (those to reccomend) and he was telling me that the message has never arrived to his email! what happened?
I could help with layout and graphics, if you still need my help. I have experience in Photoshop and am starting to work with QuarkXPress, a layout program, so that could help to produce a PDF file "magazine style".
Great news is that we have enough people to get this project moving. However, if there is anyone else who would still like to participate either through writing or design please feel free to message me. The more people on board the more variety there will be in this online publication.
