Apache/2.2.16 (Debian) Server at secure.airlinesim.aero Port 443

I forwarded it ... will be hopefully up again soon.

In this moment, I am thinking about the reliability of servers in AS. Businesses could have loss money because of their server failure/down. That's the same in AS. Server down in AS has become more frequent now... -_-  AS should have done something to overcome this problem... <_<

The airlines are running all wthout any problems - so don't worry about that ;)

I know its okay with our airlines in AS without any loss. But, AS is also considered as a business providing services to customers. Maybe AS didn't lose any money, but we may have missed the opportunity to schedule flight for new aircraft in shortest time after the bids of aircraft or when the aircraft is available. By this way, our return on investment on the aircraft may decrease as well. But, did AS compensate players as there are quite frequent server down happened this year? I don't ask for compensation, but it is a business tactic that we should know.

I agree, downtimes are a pain. However, have there been that many downtimes during the last 12 months. I haven't got that feeling.

Vice versa it is also a business question what service level you are offering. I don't think it's far from a good price level as it is today.

If there is a large server problem or even often, we of course do a compensation. And in general no one ever complained about that as we do more than we need to do.

In this particular situation there is nothing lost and no disadvantage. And it is only a short period each time - btw. it's up again - so I personaly don't see any kind of compensation for this.

Well, you have to look at the price one is paying and what kind of service one receives for this. I don't have the feeling that we need to be compensated for the minor "glitches".

*edit* btw, the server is still down ;-)

Sorry guys, the payment gateway is having some issues right now and might go down spontaneously at any time. I'm investigating the problem right now and hope to come up with a fix asap.

I have said that I don't ask for any compensation, its just that we need more reliable services from AS. Of course, there's nothing loss. But, are you saying that we deserve for this server down despite we are paying small amount of money? We don't need your compensation, what we need is better services & improvements. Hope you get what I mean...I know you all have been worked hard on making AS such a great game. But, a reliable server is tangible asset that makes everything works.

The issue has been resolved for now.

It was an error cascading up from a web service we get our currency conversion rates from. They had a breakdown themselves today and returned unexpected errors instead of proper error messages. Our payment gateway was chocking on this. Therefore I have improved the error handling and hope that such problems will be dealt with in a more robust fashion in the future.

Sorry once again for the inconvenience caused and thanks for your patience. We are a one-programmer business and for some reason these problems have tendency to happen at night, when I'm asleep.

Hi,

we live in a world where people talk about compensation if the bus is 5 minutes late. It's annoying when you can't check on your airlines, but in the end it is nothing more than a temporary nuisance.

Agree, no compensation for such minor issues.

1) this is a game, thus no serious impact happens from down time

2) this game is quite reliable, compared with various others where you will see MySQL-errors all the time

3) this game is quite longliving, compared with games where you pay 50 bucks per month and then after 12 month the company shuts down the system

Would like the team to use their resources to make the game more fantastic instead of going for platin level on servers.

Shouldn't you all understand English? I didn't ask for compensation, and though it is not an issue right now for the compensation. Instead, it is about the frequent failure of server within this year. Why not you all check out the report/thread of server down from the starting of this year? Is it once in a few days instead of once in a few weeks/months last year? That shows how "volatile" the server is.

This is not a criticism or complaint. Please do tune your comment right to the issue: server down.

Hi,

we did not start talking about compensations  ;-)

And as for the downtime... it is a nuisance. That's all.

I rent a dedicated server. The last time it went down was in 2007 or 2009. But my server is not used to the limits of its capacity...
