Hi, Currently I have an airline in AUH that is small but is steadily growing, however, it is not banked and instead is based around maxing out aircraft utilization, what are some tips on moving to a banked hub?
Well for a start I would suggest an even distribution of departure waves which gives you the option of waves every 6h or 8h.
There is advantages and drawbacks for both models but which one is more suited for you mostly depends on your destinations.
Good thing with the 6h is that for further destinations you can just “skip” a wave so the A/C takes a total of 12h until return to base and if feasable you can easily schedule a maintenance break at the outstation. (Same is true for the 8h but that takes some proper long-haul routes)
Once your waves fill up you can add another set of waves inbetween so it would be every 3h/4h.
Now if you have too much time (or are close to being a total genius) you could also think about assymetrical waves which makes sence if you are connecting medium/long-haul destinations from one direction to short-haul destinations on the other direction, but scheduling will turn a pain in the ass once you decide you’d like to add some longer routes in your short-haul direction aswell.
