Hi, maybe somebody on here has had the same issue.
A Few days ago, i decided to try my luck on an established server, decided on RIEM as it had the most slots available. I used the same name as my company on Quimby. Today they said i violated the naming rights on RIEM. Keep in mind i've been on quimby since OCT. I emailed support, and was told an aviation company already existed with the same name.
Support didn't answer all my questions, like even telling me how to change the name. I also asked why it was acceptable on Quimby but not RIEM. Got no response. I googled my airline name, AirPLUS, and found 2 possible companies. 1 is a business travel payment company, and another is a travel agency. I was under the impression from reading the rules, that since none of these companies are aviation related my name would still be ok.
So I deleted the airline on RIEM because I wasn't told how to change the name. And i'm, not sure what to do about my quimby server. Any suggestions. I feel like support staff wasn't very helpful at all. Didn't explain anything in any sort of detail. And after 1 correspondence nothing else.
Any tips/ideas/suggestions on what if anything I should do going forward would be much appreciated. I have been using the AirPLUS name in several of my virtual airlines, both on sites like this, and in my personal Flightsim for over a decade. Wanted to use it when the new server finally comes. The name can not be changed by you but you can send the new name to support and they will change it for you. Air Plus is aviation related as it is owned by 100% by Lufthansa.
Support via email has been very scratchy recently and I think Martin is aware of it. Unfortunately it is not him who handles support so we will just have to wait and see if things improve.
Having your name on one server does not mean it will fly on another, simply it can be that your name was not flagged on Quimby but was on Time … flagging for names is done manually by Team members , but also by players it is possible some player on Riem reported you. When you get naming violation notification, just propose a new name. Technically until your new name is approved you can still use your old name, for as long as you communicate with Support. You do not need to delete your airline, but you also cannot change the name yourself, you need to contact support for that.
Thanks for the information guys. I wasn't aware. I will spend the night coming up with a new name/logo and send support an email. I wish support was as helpful as you guys. Thank god we have the forums here. They are a life saver. Should I change my logos before or after they approve the name change? Thanks again for the info.
You can also reply to the in-game message. But IIRC this is also written in the message you received concerning the naming issue. By the way - I tried to explain you, that this is an aviation related real life enterprise. And the answer on your support ticket has been send by me within 9 minutes. I couldn't manage to answer your reply for one hour now, as I was reviewing the game worlds. So in this case I would state this a fast support ;)
Yeah, I didn't realize they were owned by Lufthansa. No problem, I'm not fighting the rules, just confused by them was all. Also it did say I could reply to the in game msg. However I didn't find anyway to reply. no reply button that I could easily find. Thanks again for all the help. Now to come up with a new airline name after 12+ years....
uhm - you asked if this would be a problem. I just answered, that a renaming would be recomended. That was everything I received in the support yet. Why on earth were you deleting the airline and not simply reply to my answer.
To anyone out there having the need to rename the airline - just write us (reply to the IGM or to support@airlinesim.aero) and we can help you! No need to start from the scratch again.
So, now when I try to make a new airline on any other server using my new airline name. I get the response that the name is blocked from use. I'm so confused why this could be? Any ideas?
edit: I thought maybe it was because it was the name of a native American tribe, however I tried at least 10 other tribe names and they were all allowed.
When you say existing do you mean in the real world? or in the game? becuase i googled the name first, to avoid any further issues, and didn't see anything on the first 2 pages. Maybe i should have dug deeper. If that's the case, dang, finding a good airline name if proving to be difficult for me.
I appreciate your help. Trying to use something local the region where my airline is based. Would riJET work? it's the states initials, but not the name. the naming rules seem almost too vague sometimes. I appreciate the help

We would like to ask you to propose a new name as soon as possible - either by replying to this message or by sending the current name of your company and that of the game world tosupport@airlinesim.aero.
Before submitting your new proposal, please take account of the approval rules for company names. If doubts remain after you referred to these rules, please do not hesitate to consult the forums or our email support: support@airlinesim.aero

IIRC the ticket was not closed - anyhow - it is solved right now and the message to anyone with the same problem shall be - don't start over but contact the support and ask for renaming.
For #1 = NO. I could not use the name of an airline which stopped operation in 1934 already.
For #2 = NO. You may ask the support to change the name of your airline (within the game rules) but yo can not change the 2 or 3 letter-code and the location (city + country) of your holding.
