old 747 Classic

Have anyone successfully run a 747 classic before? 747-100/200/300/SP

Will it be easier to make money on short routes or long routes?

I do not know what to say but generally I do not go for old aircraft.

I just want to try and see whether i can also operate those old birds.   :P

I'm thinking about running one aircraft for each type, just like DC9 in my Aero Southern fleet. 747-300 is working pretty well, though it doesn't make too much money.

P.S. is there anything wrong with the signature system? Why do i get another airline owned by another player when i click on my signature?

I tried using a SP for awhile.  It hemorrhaged money wherever I tried to use it.

Was it hemorrhaging money even when the flight were fully booked?

Yes.

My company currently operating 2 MD11 passenger aircrafts (25 yrs old) , i use it to run monopolized long route, they are making me a lot of money. i was using it to fly HGH/SZX-YVR/LAX. i set it very cheap price, almost 50% lesser than the default price, to increase the flight rating.

MD11 is not yet on my plan since there is an airline on my serve is running MD11 right now. Maybe i will run DC10 and Tristar. I'm not sure whether they can make money for me.

i'm now only trying to run 747 classic.

I used to run an airline on Stapleton with 737-400, the oldest ones first. They made tons of money for me, I started using them in place 767-400ER and 777's as a result. I think I ended up buying up tons of them. They were cheap, because I buy outright versus leased. I think they buying price was 27,500,000$AS at the time for the older machines.

The thing that kills profit for older aircraft is maintenance costs, they were easily double or triple that of a new aircraft. But at 75%+ loads, I still made more money. This was before the cabin configuration tool changed through.

Now, i can manage to make profit from 747 classic except 100 and SR version. 200/300s make a lot of money for me.

i think 747 classic is still different from old 737, because those 747s are really old (nearly 30 years for 200, more than 40 years for 100)
