Outbid but still won Auction. How??

Hello guys,

On two separate occasions in this last week, something strange has happened - I put in my bid for used planes in the auction and was later notified that I had been outbid. I am a person who is hardly ever excited about an auction and will simply not exceed what i want to pay - i simply bid and walk away, if I have reached my limit. Anyway, I put in a bid for these planes on each occasion and went about my daily business. I came back to check on A/S after a few hours and wasn’t too surprised to see that someone else had outbid me. What took me by surprise was that I got another mail after the auction ended that I had won the auction! This has happened twice this week! I am still scratching my head - how is this possible??

Don’t get me wrong - I am glad to have won the auction on my terms and the planes are already working like dogs  :slight_smile: . I am just confused and unsure as to how and why this happened. Any opinions??

Simple. The other bidder liquidated before the auction was over, so you reverted to be the highest bidder. Had you over bid the overbidder, you would have ended up with a more expensive aircraft as your overbid would not be reversed. But because you stayed put, your previously highest bid was the one left, and so you won.
