PAX distribution

Hi all,

Apologies as I believe I have read this in the past, but I cant seem to find it now. How are Passengers distributed amongst flights? So for example, if 2 airlines fly a route once a day each with an ORS score of 100 I assume it would split passengers 50 / 50 (talking about direct pax here).

What happens if airline A flies a 777 on the route offering 200 seats once a day, but airline B flies a 737 on the route offering 50 seats 4 times a day? Would the distribution still be 50 / 50? Does it split the PAX per airline or per flight? Because obviously if it is per flight airline B will get more PAX.

The reason I am asking is that I would like to reduce the flights on some of my key routes from 8 times a day with a 787 to 4 times a day with an A380. LGW to JFK is an example. I understand transfer PAX are different, but will I loose direct PAX?

Any thoughts are welcome

Chris

There was a thread on this a few months ago. There isn’t an easy answer to be had.

Thanks! Very interesting thread, i guess it will be nearly impossible to use the a380 on my routes :frowning:
