This is a question pure out of curiosity: Some servers have been running for years now, and most probably will run for years to come.. but is there any defenite end date to them? Or do they just keep running untill... well ever?
Because with newer planes comming online over the years, people would like to adjust theire fleet, but with most slots already full, and the differences in speed/turn around time, this would be very hard to achieve i could imagine!

its hard, but not impossible. I change my Dash8 to 739 and it works fine. You habe to change some slots and take some min, but there is no need for a reset or something only because of this.
Yes, at the moment a server is not financing its own direct cost for a period, we will have to think about closing it down. But otherwise we don't intend to reset or close a server.

A server, as in one of the currently running servers? Ouch, I dont want to be in your shoes announcing a shut-down....one could only imagine the flame threads on this forum ;)
I am glad that someone brought this topic up - slots. When I switch a flight from a 767 to a 787, I can very well ask my pilots to fly slower or circle around the London area before the allotted time slot for the landing. The flight will take the same amount of time despite a 787 CAN fly faster.
An airline should not need to fight for slots if it is simply changing equipment on a route....while I reckon it is probably not easy to fix, I hope the AS will rectify this problem some day in the future.
