Seat configuration problem in a certain flight

Hi, i started to operate a new route from Larnaca Cyprus to Skiathos Greece using a Bombardier CRJ 700, the flight distance is 1,029 km.

I had a seat config of 42 seats in economy and 8 seats in business, but the first flight from LCA to JSI had only 21 economy seats available and 8 business seats available.

i've created a different seat config (not because of this specific flight), this one has 56 seats in economy class and 9 in business class. now i've checked the second flight from LCA to JSI and it had only 20 economy seats available, and 9 business seats. The return flight has the right amount of seats available (56, 9), and that plane also operates on longer flights with the full seat config, and i also checked that route in the plane's performance check tool and everything seems fine. if you have any idea why the flight from Larnaca to Skiathos has a low number of seats in economy class it would like to help me a lot. Thanks!

The RWY at Skiathos is simply too short for a fully loaded CRJ700 to land.

the RWY is only about 1600m long while the fully loaded CRJ700 might need 1730m.

I suggest you use the 'Aircraft Type evaluation' function before launching a new flight, especially when the max RWY length required by the aircraft is longer than that in the airports you are using.

The 'available seat' shows how many seats you can have for that particular flight. AS always takes out economy class seats first if your flight can't reach the max number of PAX in your cabin config. The profit analysis might be inaccurate, but some other functions might be useful.

You can also use 'performance check tool'. After you schedule a lot of flights , you will have an idea of how many percentage you need for your cabin config.

Thanks!! I missed it!

Just a small extension of excellent response from TWAAir

You can make estimation of how many seats will be available yourself, based on "Performance check tool" and knowledge that AS use default ICAO passenger weight:  95kg.
