Some Questions from a Noob

Hello people of Airlinesim!

I have been playing this game for about a week and a half and love it a lot.

1) We started on a server called Tempelhof, It seems really really crowded in the terms that most of the countries have at least one company with on avg 10 or so aircraft usually more and most of the aircraft are Q400,Do328s etc. How is someone who starts off meant to compete. I am perfectly happy doing the " Get one aircraft set up some flights and wait for them to get booked" route. The problem here is that they are most of the time not booked all the time. So if i have 1 aircraft going to 4 or 5 bases 3 out of the 10 will be booked and the other 7 flights will make me a loss. Any tips on this problem would be greatly appreciated

2) A friend and I both bought about 300 Credits or so, If we decided to start on another server can we transfer them over or are we "stuck' on Templehof. We have found another server which we would prefer but it seems as though we are unable to transfer the credits, Are we being stupid or is this intentional?

Thanks so much for any help and information you are able to provide.

Regards

Hello people of Airlinesim!

I have been playing this game for about a week and a half and love it a lot.

Welcome to airlinesim

If you have issues concerning the number of passengers, first check out your traffic rights. If these are OK try to check the ORS to get a general idea wheter you are offering a poor product or you are flying in an area with very little passengers.

Your credits are valid all over airlinesim: simply start a holding at an other server.

Thanks for the info

One thing about the credits, Do i have to activate them somehow,

http://gyazo.com/d8879d016b0a4b430cc83160d4df55ab from Tempelhof

http://gyazo.com/bb844f85fb932cf48e96167c8227e20a from the other server

Each server i try i don't get my credits.

My Friend did though >.<

Ahh nvm just took some time, Thanks for the help =D

If you don't want to use Tempelhof anymore don't forget to close your Holding there and deactivate the sever world because otherwise you will pay 4 credits per day per holding ......

Hi,

please notice the and between closing your holding and deactivate the server  ;-)

Jan

Hi again, Having the same problem with the credits not showing up after i got rid of my company after i saw an opportunity on another server. Last time i waited about 2 hours but now its been 10 hours and still getting shown 190 credits and when i create a company it says 0.

It takes some time after you create your company before the credits show up. Kinda wonky that way, I know, but they really should show up after you start fiddling around with your company. If they haven't shown up in a day, you should email support@airilinesim.aero (I think is the address). Check out the '?' tab in your top menu to make sure of that.

A few tips from an old noob to a new one:

* Don't get discouraged. It took me a year (off and on) to really get the hang of the simulation. You will fail, it's inevitable. Just learn what you can until your company collapses, and then try again.

* Read the forums. There are many, many topics of people asking for help and getting it. The forum is your friend. Read the wiki for the basics, but the forum is where you'll get most of your advice.

* Start on an old server, like you did. Keep working on those older servers to get the hang of things. New servers (aka Gatow and Aspern) are rough in many ways.

Welcome to AS. Hope you have a lot of fun.

If you create a new airline and your credits don't show up, it sometimes helps just to log off and on again.

Hello again got another question, Once i have made a parent company and then a subsidiary, can i transfer cash back from the sub to the parent? Would like to open a new company but cannot find a way to transfer the cash. Once again thanks for all the help =D

There's a couple ways you can do this.

First, you would need to purchase an aircraft, probably one of the cheapest. If you're on Aspern, that's the Britten-Norman BN-2B-26 Islander -- and then you would need to transfer it back and forth using the Asset Management tab (under the '$' sign in your top menu). You just transfer and sell it back. It can take a while, but it's the only way I know of you can transfer money back and keep control of how much you are transferring.

The other option is to put your subsidiary on the stock market with an IPO. If the subsidiary is profitable, every week it will send some of its money back to your holding company, but this is dependent on how much your subsidiary makes. Your base transfer is 80% of 15% of your profits. So if your subsidiary makes $1,000,000 in profits in a week, it would transfer $120,000 back to your holding.

I am Back!  :D

Thanks for the help with transferring cash, As it was a new company I just reset it, surprised there is not an option to transfer cash between companies though.

I tried looking on the wiki and the forums for an explanation for this one but i am just confused.

(note, Operations for Airline of South Africa are starting today and the planes are booked up nicely, AOY,AOT and AOV will start in 3 or so days.)

My main holding is Airline Enterprises

I have a subsidiary called Airline of South Africa (Both based in Johannesburg)

I got restless and started looking around for countries that could have an airline. So i made Airline Intl Enterprises

This has three Subsidiaries

Airline of Turkmenistan

Airline of Vanuatu

and Airline of Yemen

Airline Intl is based in Vanuatu. Will AOT and AOY be able to carry passengers or not due to traffic rights? And if that is the case how then is a major person on my server able to have a Japanese Parent Company with Senegal, NZ/AUS,Papua New Guinea, Guatemala, Cambodia,Mongolia,Trinidad and Tabago,Bahamas,Lao, Taiwan and Uzbekistan all as subsidiaries and all doing extremely well? Am i missing something simple?

Also here are two links, one is of a Dash 8 Q400 that is 99% full: http://gyazo.com/9009f8081c5ed459028d505a27648d64.png

and the other is of the same Dash 8 on the same route empty: http://gyazo.com/7ea60139b8b4c5147b669ff728717a57.png.

Total cash income is $8655. But the total profit is only $1424. Total expenses is $7231. For the full one

Total cash income is 0. Total profit is -$4839 for the empty one. That is $2392 that is missing. It looks a little worse for the 737 i am running too. Am i misinterpreting this data, have I made a mistake?

Once again sorry for the questions but i find that the Wiki is not the most informative thing in the world and the other forum posts didn't seem to explain it well.

Thanks

Argonaught

1. No, AOT and AOY are not allowed to carry passengers because Yemen and Turkmenistan don't have "unrestricted market access" (see country info page)

2. All countries the japanese company has subsidiaries in do have "unrestricted market access"(see above)

Ohh ok. That is a bit unfortunate. So even with my main company I cannot then go and expand into Mozambique or Namibia. That would explain why no one is in them. So you basically will have to have a whole new company for each one and pay for them too in credits. Thanks for the help.

And if you own both a Mozambique company and a South African one you cannot interline them. Could I use an alliance as a loop hole, does that do the same thing as interlining.

An alliance does not have the same effect as interlining - there would be no possibility to connect passengers using an alliance.

And if you own both a Mozambique company and a South African one you cannot interline them. Could I use an alliance as a loop hole, does that do the same thing as interlining.

You can interline between subsidiaries.

You can not interline between two companies if they are both yours from two different holdings.

In your case you have one holding and many subsidiaries so you can make them interline.

maybe this question has already been answered somewhere else, havent found it though.

i started 2 weeks ago on riem, didnt know that it would have been better so open a subsidiary (-> IPO) so i am operating with my holding. is that a disadvantage? if yes, what is the best way to transfer my ops to a new subsidiary?

thank you for your answers in advance!

brgds, nero

I do not like IPOs, you cede too much control and you cannot move funds freely within your holding, sub, and other subs you may have. If you have sound strategy, you make money necessary for expansion even without IPO.

But if for sure you want to think of IPO, slowly move operations to your sub...lease the same planes, transfer schedules, etc. Ultimately after the first flight at the holding, fire all the employees.

P.S. I do not think Riem is the best server for newbie, it's an advanced server with substantially reduced demand.

Ok thanks for your Input.

I also already Heard that riem is more difficult, but apparently also more experienced airlinesimmers have their problems. So i think i will just make my way through it…
