Terminals

Hi,

I couldn't see this when I did a search, so apologies if it has been posted before.  I often rent terminal space from other airlines at foreign airports, but find it very annoying having to cancel the contract and request a new one if I want to change the amount!  Maybe an easier way of editing this would be helpful?

Thanks

Chris

The best way is to build one terminal for yourself.

You have an alternative way to encounter this: that is to select the flight number (eg: 111) and pick the handling provider that you want. By this way, you do not have to pick the handling provider for whole route but only fixed for certain flights. As you want to increase capacity, you can pick another handling provider for different flight number. Other wise, you can go for building a terminal for yourself.

Doing this per flight is very annoying, it is much easier to do in bulk for the whole route!  I would love to build terminals but I have nowhere near the £££ to be doing this yet... :(

Suggestion: you can use the default AS handling at the beginning (if you want*). Soon, you can build a terminal when you have the $$$. Easy & simple.  :)

Then why bother having the functionality to rent terminal space in the game, if it should not be used?  If I see a chance to save 5 AS per passenger I will obviously take it by renting space.  I am not saying its an important feature or a bug, but it is very annoying!

I am 18 months in with my airline, and I don't think I am even halfway to getting terminals.  New terminals to cover all my PAX would be over a billion AS, my priority is to increase my fleet and increase my market share in the UK.

So, your airline is 18-month old. May be you can do it accordingly or slowly, which means you can build a terminal first with 2,000 pax that handles certain routes of passengers. Every airline in AS has the "priority" in increasing fleet and market share. But, we would like to save our cost and increase our image at the same time. You can expand your terminal once a week by XXXX pax and you can achieve the amount you want soon in the future (suppose an airline with 18-month old would have stable income every week).  :)

I can, but that's not my strategy.  My strategy is to rent terminal space from others and increase as required :)  I think a lot of people will agree with me that the returns from investing in aircraft are much higher than the returns from investing in terminal space.

Ah, but surely you can take the boost to flight ratings in consideration? in turn raising your seat load factor...more revenue...etc.

Sure. Go ahead with renting limited terminal space from others. You will find this more annoying than building a terminal by your own.

I didn't start this as a debate on terminal strategy (although I always welcome debate!), I certainly aim to spend the hundreds of millions AS required when I can get it to buy a terminal.  Renting terminal space Is a temporary fix, and I think the feature I suggested would be very helpful :).

Probably your suggestion is good. But, as long as there is no such implementation and yet we need to do it our own.  ^_^

Honestly, all terminal space providers are collapsing after a few weeks after I sign a deal with them. Therefore my thesis (but nothing more) is that it is a risky thing to build a business based only (or in major part) on renting the space.

What makes you think "all"? only airlines that are 1 week old and build a terminal collapse.

Besides, it's doing something to do with the money, when I start an airline, I tend to only use 4-5 Million, 10 Million starting is a bit generous.
