I would like to know when are you guys going to open a new server??
Are you?Too soon? Pearls is completly full(and no slots available anywhere) for the last months and the older servers although don’t have many airline companies the ones that exist are so huge that you just can’t compete with them, besides as it is possible to have more than one holding per account in those older servers a few players have done a complete monopoly empire where it is impossible to break through and absolutly nobody interlines with you because the few regional airlines that exist belong to those empires of bigger international companies of the same owner. So i tried the other way. I’ll be the regional airline. FORGET IT… The only markets where you can build a decent national/regional airline are also fully loaded. Some guys have such a huge empire that have bought all used aircrafts, mainly those with which you want to begin with like Embraer and Sukhoi or smaller Boeings and as they own all aircrafts they make you pay huge amounts of money for you to lease those aircrafts. Play godfather not airline sim mr.corleone…
Mega airline is an unrealistic phenomenon that ruins the whole game. The game should implement extra progressive admin cost on things like subsidiary, no. of planes, no. of staff, no. of lease and similar restrictions.
otherwise the situation won’t change and it is meaningless to have 100 servers
Every now and then this question pops up. But before you post these requests you should first check the forums if there is already a thread opened on this subject.
Secondly there is no reason to open new servers as there are plenty of spaces on the existing servers. And no, its not impossible to open a successful company on any of these. I did it many times and i’m doing it again on Tempelhof for example. There are lots of niche markets where you can beat the big companies any time of the day. If you choose your country wisely then they can’t compete with you because they just don’t have the time to micromanage all those things or they lack the traffic rights to try to block you out from some nice regional routes.
So your inability to play on some server is not an excuse to open new servers.
Sadly it seems AS is giving into such silly demands. What will happen in a year or so when that server is down to 500 people and full of "big", "cheating" companies? And this comes just as servers like Croydon had started to see an increase in new startups…
At least AS can assess their new aircraft system implementation at server start-up point. Previously it was a mess when trying to incorproate into the system.
(And I also don’t have to stand those huge airlines which were resulted from trading planes)
As past experiences tell us anytime a new server was opened the number of players on other servers diminished. Now AS opens up another server without any new feature and again there will be a mass migration from older servers (especially Pearls and Meigs) to the new server. And that will result in having more servers with “big”, “cheating” companies and in a few months (i’m willing to bet on that with anyone) another newbie appears asking for a new server.
I want to ask the AS team something and as a paying customer i need at least an answer to this question: how long will servers be open ? I mean if i am on a specific server which is already around 300 users and this number fells let’s say to 100 or 50 or 10 players, will AS keep that server running ? Or it will close it down ? Because i really need to know if i am to invest that time of energy, time and ultimately money into something then how long can i use it.
This is not quite right. There is some "migration", sure. But as a matter of fact, the recent two game worlds are usually that full because the many new players that constantly arrive usually just pick either of the very first game worlds in the list. Many of the players you see on Meigs and Pearls therefore are not even active. Of course the "core" of actually playing accounts will be somewhat larger on recent game worlds, but the overall situation is similar to the other game worlds in that you’ve got some very large airlines that basically split up the market among them and that the major airports are crowded. With this situation in place it doesn’t matter for a new players whether he plays on an old or a new game world: It will be equally hard and frustrating. As such we need new game worlds every now and then to get a level playing field for new arrivals.
Experience shows that hardly any server drops considerably below 300 players. Even our very first game worlds which are about 5 years old now have around 300 players, at least. At this level, servers are above break-even. It’s not amazing, but it suffices. Once a server drops below 200 players, we might have to start thinking about taking actions. But then again: What fun is a game world that has that few players, anyhow?
Personally i’m not that pleased with the holdings that hold over 1500 planes, mostley 737-900’s and 787’s. BUT there is always room for à new airline, just as long as you play it smart, and have fun doing so. I play this game because i love aviation, not to be THE airline with the biggest fleet, or with the goal to evade all the competitors. And although it can be frustrating to see the biggies pulling strings on youre airline, just micro manage and make IL agreements with otter smaller airlines… No youre airline won’t grow that fast, but hey, Isn’t that how it Goes in real life?
Martin, will tHe server start with massive second hand aircraft or are we going to start fair with no aircraft in the market but when aircraft become available they might end up n the market, like aircraft from defunct airlines etc…
I would make the game a bit more chalanging but a level playing field
Thanks AS team for the new server. Hopefully this runs better, I would suggest that all Pearls players migrate here with the exception of 1 person, no need to mention names.
In all seriousness hopefully this server runs better and we don’t have people exploiting flaws.
