Used aircraft: public vs on auction

On used market, there is a discrepancy for "public" and "on auction" aircraft.

E.g. Boeing 737-BGW, fornebu. It says "public" 126, but "on auction" only 55 (including both public and private auction).

There are some aircraft where public = on auction. And some not.

I can understand where "on auction" > "public" (meaning privately owned aircraft is on auction). But I cannot gasp why would there be a situation where "on auction" < "public".

Is there any explanation for this, or am I missing something?

Usually if the number of used aircraft available via the AS leasing company, is greater than 50, then only 50 will be available at a time

Ok thank you for the information

Plus any "Public" person might not want to put their plane up, because they are using them. "Public" means not an airline, If you want a cessna 208B there is nothing forcing GA pilots to sell you their airplanes. It really makes it more realistic.

Loki I think you are confusing things, "Public" here means AS Holding.
