1 button to transfer all flight schedules from 1 plane to another

I would like to buy another plane to replace an existing one, and I would like to keep all the existing flight schedules.

Instead of changing the flight number one by one, is there possible to increase 1 key to transfer all the existing flight scedule from 1 plane to another to save time?

Thanks

but…

when you change planes?

only when buying bigger and better, right?

in that case you have one little problem - turnaround - bigger aircraft need more time, so flight schedule must be corrected anyway - and that can be problem -> JFK, LHR, FRA ets…

yeah, it is a problem.

but at lease if I want to buy a new plane to replace the old one, or use a similar type of plane to replace the other, it will work, save alot of time…

To make it short: This topic looms for years now and was asked for many times before (even in this forum).

As far as I’m concerned it’s technically impossible.

Yes, should be technically impossible cause the system is based on slots

So, on big airports, you have to chose planes with the same speed and similar time of turnaround or to open many different flight numbers :P

Not really, some airlines replace planes as they get older in an attempt to keep the fleet as new as possible.

The game is based on slot but when you go to the flight schedule for a plane you can select > ‘existing flight number’ > pick the number from the drop down to schedule it on the new plane. This works also when the number is active. However, this becomes difficult once you have a lot of flight numbers assigned to a single plane. Basically what is requested is to do the drop-down thing but for multiple flight numbers. Then it should not be based on slots and an entire plane can be re-scheduled.

I think that the process could be simplified if a change were made to the way the "Flight Planning" page works. At the moment, when you hit the "Apply schedule settings", AS rejects the update immediately if for any reason a conflict (slot space, time window etc) means that it is not flyable. I'd like to suggest that instead, the system should accept the schedule change but simply warn that there are conflicts.   That way, it's entirely up to the player to decide how and when he fixes the conflicts - he simply has to ensure that all the conflicts are fixed before he executes the "Update Schedule".

With this change to the way Flight Planning works, a "1 button" transfer becomes feasible - if there a no conflicts, all well and good. If there are conflicts, the player can fix them one by one at leisure.

YES! If it would work like this that would be awesome!

This is also imperative for adjusting capacity. For example, I may start a route with a 737-700 and may later wish to upgrade to a 737-900ER HGW, therefore bumping up capacity by 20-30% with no change in flying/turnaround times.

The tool would be brilliant.

I don't think its technically IMPOSSIBLE. When I upgrade aircraft, I select the flight number in the scheduling of the new aircraft. Not at any point are my slots vacated during this (not for a nano second). The schedules are 'transferred' and I don't see why a computer code can't do that for me?

Having said that, the AS team does a fantastic job of updating features, and this is probably (and understand-ably) down on their priority list.

I just had a thought... Could this be done on the basis of maintenance category, with the transfer option only available to aircraft in the same one?

Usually there isn't a difference in speed or turnaround with aircraft in the same category, so stepping up from a B737 to a B739 or from an A320 to an A321 would be possible but going from a B744 to an A380 would not.

A 737-700 BGW is slightly slower than a 737-900HGW...

Well that puts a spanner in the works, though I was using it as an example only. They could create new categories specifically for schedule transfers taking into account speed and turnaround etc.

But, while that idea could possibly work, it would use a lot of the developers time for what probably wouldn't be an oft-used feature.
