I am testing new connections.
I have this A220-100. Its going from Tunis to Johanisburg (JNB).
As promised in Aircraft performance it can fly 86 passengers.
This is what it is doing. Currently I see 4 flights with 4 flight numbers (Tun ->JNB and back).
For me they look identical but the last booked flight insteadt of 86 passengers only offer seats for 73 passengers. Same plane, same everything. Any idea how that could happen ?
that route with that airframe is really pushing it. I am rather surprised it worked with a higher load in the first place.
The below is from yeouido. Maybe, the A220-100 data was updated on paine and is now closer to what you can see below than when the first few flights were booked in.
either way, I would expect very limited capacity in this scenario to be the realistic case.
I’m guessing that you’re speeding in the final leg, perhaps for keeping maintenance ratio above 100% or catching your wave back home. Deviating from optimal cruising speed will cost you performance.
Uh - I never checked that page. Only using the Aircraft type evaluation. There it told me 87 seats(given that only 95 seats are in the plane thats OK for this route).
And the change was suddenly. I will alternate a bit with flights and see if something is changing with seat availability again
to illustrate what I was saying: here’s BCS1’s performance when cruising at 848kph instead of optimal 830kph. when speeding to 848 the available payload goes down from 8308kg (~86 pax you saw) at optimal speed to 6956kg.
Thats exactly what happened. This flight arrives 10 minutes earlier to (also) catch a connection to that minor italien city…
I was not aware of that. Seems I learned a thing.
Probably the whole connection is not such a good idea. Doing it with a two leg connection brought much higher passenger count but the direct link needs more adjustements to be at least somehow profitable.
