Having played AS since 2012 I thought I knew most tricks, however after a couple of years away I started a new airline in DXB on Xiguan (Link Airways) and for the first time I selected to use A330neo instead of 787.
I have been struggling to fill even 50% of the PAX despite IL partners in destinations having 3000+ connections, and a few days ago tried “speeding up” the A330. I now manage get about 75% loads!
As the A330neo is much slower in AS than the 787, this makes me wonder if it is ever viable to use the A330 in AS. I would assume if i Put a 787 on these routes the faster speed would probably make the PAX loads 100%. For example My airline flies the only direct route between JFK and DXB, with 3000+ connections in JFK yet reaches 50% at normal speed and 75% at max speed for an A330.
Has anybody else experienced this with A330 and moved to 787, or am I unique in finding this? I have experimented speeding up the A330 on 2 routes so far and both saw improved PAX loads.
Thoughts welcome as to whether I should quit the A330 and go 787, but I dont really want to as have always used 787 and want something new!
