A350

Hi was curious if/when the A350 was going to be making it's debut. Would be fun to give the 787 some competition.

When will be the first delivery?

I read on news yesterday that first delivery will slip into late-2014....so don't expect anything until fall this year, or even winter.

789 comes out in April 2014. It has the range of the 772 LR but with more profitablility says boeing.

I actually look forward to the 789 than the 359 :D

Having flown up front in both I'll say I'm partial to the airbus designs. They just seem to take the flight crew more in mind and are more comfortable. The Boeing single isle is based on the old 727 design I think and is a little cramped.  I had thought the first A350 was about to be delivered, painted and ready to go, must have been mistaken.

No it hasnt.. 787-9: 8,000nm , three classes, full payload

So you are a test enigineer or pilot with Airbus? I think that is the only way you could have flown the A350... And what are you talking about single isle in the B787? It is a wide body aircraft with 2 isles...?

I think TD is talking Boeing vs airbus. Not B787 vs A350…

Ahhh oke, could be ;-)

Strange, you flown with both but you aren't aware that the planes are far from being certified. Certification is needed in order for the plane to be delivered to customers.

" airbus designs" pretty sure he did not mean the a350 since he was talking about all airbus designs in general and thus in service. If not then....well it is maybe possible to have flown on the a350 as a test passenger but I think that selection is closed and quite secret.

Sorry should have specified. I have not been in the jumpseat of the 787 or a350. I just meant the general concept behind the designs. Airbus with the joystick leaves more room and the cockpits are very roomy for other things like bags, jumpseaters, etc. They have a more intuitive flow to them. I like the chart holders, panel layouts, and extra care taken to make it comfortable fir the crew. Boeings feel cramped and leave a little more up to the pilots, which isn’t a bad thing in itself, but just feels like the last thing they worried about was making it comfortable for the crew. They had a design that worked and stuck with it.

I personally like Boeing’s aircraft, but airbus’ planes do feel a bit better. The earlier Boeing planes were great, my Dad flew 727s with NW and I was in there once, in a retired plane in permanent storage. Was a joy to sit in , has everything a pilot needed, even a cup holder. I loved to fly in those big planes, even if they were going to their grave.

Hi,

I'm rated on A320, but also was in 737 simulator (fixed base) for some hours...concerning single aisle (not talking about widebodies here, as far as I know Boeings modern widebodies, i.e. 777, 787 have a more modern design than the 737) I think Airbus has a more state-of-the-art design. Anyway intuitive is not a thing I would attribute to Airbus...I think Boeing is more intuitve because the pilot is more "involved"(f.e. moving throttles, moving jokes etc.). Then again, the ECAM really helps to analyse any problems when they occur (but it has some pitfalls...). But for sure the Airbus is more comfortable, I really like the table ;-)

One of my teachers at flying school who flew both aircrafts said: "The Airbus is more comfortable, after a long day you are not as exhausted as in the Boeing, its a good airplane for your daily work - but on the Boeing you are really flying and more involved with the airplane"

In the end, both aircrafts have their advantages and disadvantages and both are reliable, nice airplanes...I think finally I comes down to taste what you like more
