We have this in mind for the unforeseeable future - but as mentioned - no effective release date of any past period yet.
Well when you guys do end up punching out a retro server make sure you give it plenty of attention and time before it starts. I am certain you would have a full server. On that note would you have to adjust the amount of players in that game? Mainly due to not as many people flying back then. Hmm…just out of curiosity what are others opinions on this?
Sounds like a great idea! I’m waiting for a new server atm - retro would be superb.
Perhaps the retro server could be run for 1-2 years from the past? You could use real data to look at fuel prices, maintenance costs, wages, passenger demand etc.
An old server would be immense work for the programmers…poor them
Concorde is not just about what airlines did. For a commercial aircraft to be in service a manufacturer must provide support. Concorde had its support withdrawn by (I believe) Airbus?
Do you think maybe you are more interested in a historic world which as have said they are working on?
It’s not all about spare parts. It’s technical expertise, standard operating procedures basis, manual production, training manual basis as well…
Hi Alexander,
3rd party can manufacture the parts, although that will be expensive - but still an option.
But who CONTROLS these spare parts, you can't start making spare parts in the back of your shed. They have to be tested thoroughly and in some cases air tested before they are introduced on operating aircraft. You need a manufactuerer to aprove the spare parts.
In airlinesim the training of crew is already simulated. You can just make it more expensive for to hire and train Concorde crew to make it more realistic
Crew was not part of my argument, crew is a minor part of the costs of reintroduction!
Have a read of this article, it is very interesting....

What is most interesting is question 22... without quoting as not to infringe on copyrights, it would of cost 10-15 million in 2003 when concorde stopped flying, now the estimate is in excess of 100 million (as there is no support or spare parts).
So lets take that to the game now... does any player actually have 100 million in their bank account? even so I would suggest those that would do, or actually do would be unlikely to "invest" 100 million in an aircraft that burnt more fuel on taxi than a 737 does between London and Amsterdam
Hope this helps with your understanding
Ian
Virgin Atlantic spent much of the late 90's trying to lease Concorde from Air France but BA & Airbus wouldn't allow it, Other wise the Lady would still be flying now!

Virgins bid of 1 million pounds per plane was just pathetic, you can not even get half a Cessna 208 for that price.
Virgin might have operated a couple Concordes on "Express journeys" but I am sure they would have been retired by now. Virgin has changed a lot from operating old 747-100 and 200s in the 21th century to retiring 10 year old aircraft and operated the newest and most advanced that is available and trying to have the "fresh" feeling (just look at their livery compared to the old). As Ian said the concorde burns as much fuel as a 737 (similar sized aircraft) burns between LHR and AMS for just taxing out of LHR.
I sadly never got the opportunity to fly with the concorde partly because I was pretty young at the time it still flew and secondly that neither me or my family like New York (That is why my first time in New York was in 2013 when I came to the conclusion that I did not like it). Though I do fly over the pond at least every second or third year but I rather prefer Asia and Africa so I am more often in these continents.
There is still some hope to get the concorde to fly again with Club Concorde.
it really expensive to fly with Concorde...
