Aircraft Condition

I am trying to figure out what defines and affects the factor shown as 'Aircraft Condition' - it seems to be costing me in overall rating!

I was looking at the ‘Flight Rating’ in many of my flights and noticed that my ‘Aircraft Condition’ was always in the red! Sometimes it will even have two bars in the red!. All my planes are less than 1.2 years old and are modern jets. My maintenance ratios are all in the green by very decent margins. I just keep wondering what could be responsible.

Do you guys think that the Maintenance Contractor used would have anything to do with it??

Maintenance contractor + time and spacing of maintenance breaks

My maintenance breaks are excellent - they mostly range from 150% to 286%

And what is the actual state of the aircraft condition you see expressed as % after the last flight before the maintenance break?

Also note that the aircraft condition image factor is calculated as of the time you look at it, (and of course at the time the flight departs), but if your aircraft condition is low at this very moment, all flights on that aircraft you look at will have a low condition image factor.

You are right. I recently changed my maintenance contractor and i guess i am paying the price. The new contractor has lousy quality rating - I guessed i overlooked that cos I was focused on the excellent efficiency rating. The outcome is now obvious! I notice that anytime the condition percentage hits lower than 80% (especially below 75%), the Aircraft condition starts showing double red bars and even triple red bars when my aircrafts seem to go as low as 65%!! I never noticed in the past because my former maintenance contractor always kept it above 80% (rarely ever below). Goodness!! This game does have some details which make it so intriguing and nice! I have to admit, I love such details! Unfortunately, I have to wait for 2 weeks before I can fire the contractor's ass and hire a new one!!

I have LH fleet where some aircraft fly for 6 days in a row. Fortunately they never get below 50%. Right now an aircraft with 72% condition shows 2 red bars, with 80% condition one green bar. 87% condition 2 green bars, green 90% condition 3 green bars, 96% 4 green bars.

The issue is not so much the difference between how %-condition is translate into green bars (they are I would guess same for all providers), but rather how long the aircraft holds better condition (there are some providers who help you hold better condition longer than others).

Just out of curiosity, whom did you have before, and whom did you switch to now?

Rubiohiguey2000,

Sorry for the delay - was out for some days.

I was using African Maintenance Systems before, I thought I could improve my profit margin by reducing maintenance cost while maintaining the same level of efficiency - so I opted for a new maintenance contractor (QuickTech Engineering). Needless to say, I have been unimpressed.

I agree that the issue is not how the percentage condition translates (it is the same for everyone) however what i have noticed is that a maintenance contractor who has lousy quality will always cause your planes to lose (%) percentage condition quickly - meaning that the aircraft spends much of its time being outside of the green range! The cost of maintenance may be cheaper with such a contractor but since the quality is shoddy, you have to do maintenance a lot more frequently! And since the Aircraft does not stay in the green range (%) most of the time, then whenever the ORS rating is compiled, your airline loses critical points because the condition of your Aircraft is less than optimum!! This may be the difference between your flight rating scoring a Total of 96 points or 92 points! At the end of the day, those few points push you much lower in ORS rating and the competition gets an edge!!

@MIDAS02 - I believe you have just discovered for yourself the AirlineSim maintenance holy grail.
