AirlineSim Meet-Up 2023 (Munich): Sign-Up & Program

Hi everyone!

As this year’s AirlineSim meet-up in Munich is coming closer, we wanted to use this thread to share the program’s details

Sign-Ups Available!

If you’d like to join and haven’t gotten your ticket yet, please register via eventbrite.

The bookings will be available until 6 October. We’ll mail a program with further details to everyone who signed up soon. Please note that in order to help us plan with a reliable number of participants, we’re charging a sign-up fee of 5€.

Program

  1. Meeting spot: We’ll meet on Saturday, 14 October 2023, at 11:30 am in front of Tante Ju’s Speisenwerkstatt at the Besucherpark / Visitors Park of Munich Airport. The Visitors Park can be reached by travelling to the S-Bahn station “München Flughafen Besucherpark”.

  2. Plane spotting & lunch: We’ll stay at the Visitors Park for around 2 hours, so if you’re arriving a bit later, don’t worry! The spotting at the park’s Besucherhügel / Visitors Hill costs 1€ per person and should give us a nice view of the runway from a height of 28 metres! When we get hungry, we can stop by at Tante Ju’s Speisenwerkstatt for a snack.

  3. Flugwerft Schleißheim: At around 1:45 pm, we’ll leave the Visitors Park and take the S-Bahn (S1) to “Oberschleißheim”. From there, we’ll take a 15 minute walk to the Flugwerft Schleißheim, so we should arrive there at around 3 pm.

  4. Exhibition details: Flugwerft Schleißheim offers adult tickets for 8€ as well as a wide variety of displayed aircraft, such as sailplanes and powered gliders, sport and touring aircraft, hanggliders and ul-aircraft, research and historical aircraft, helicopters and vtol-aircraft (for a full list click here). We’ll stay at the museum until 5 pm and then take the S-Bahn to Munich’s city.

  5. Dinner: Our final stop will most likely be the restaurant Augustiner Bräustuben, which offers authentic Bavarian dishes and has some vegetarian options as well.

  6. Hotel: Last but not least, we’ll take a rest at the Boutique Hotel Germania, which is a 17 minute walk away from the restaurant. If you’d like to check in there as well, here’s the link to the hotel’s website: https://hotel-germania.net/
