I’m trying to figure out where would be a good place to start in the new server. Would a highly competitive environment (us/Europe) with access to big airports or niche environment where most people wouldt start (nz) be easier to compete?
I’ve been learning the simulation on Ellinikon through multiple reset for the last few weeks. From what I’ve gathered, the q400 has one of the lowest cost per seat but for a high density route on a new server, would a b737 be more suitable despite the higher lease rate ?
Any information if the world would be a classic configuration or would it be a reduced demand/ no used planes world ? -i know its on the 15th but any idea what time would the new world start?
How would you obtain maximum profit at the start given that demand far outstrips supply on server start ? Do people actually use slimline seats to cram maximum seats per flight and changing those seats when competition arrive ?
And lastly, I’ve managed to figure out most components of the simulation but it would be great to get a mentor on new server
Where to start at the beginning of a server really depends on what you want your airline to be and what type of competition you want. If you want an International airline good places to start would be major airports (i.e. LAX or London) and start with International routes and if you just plan on making a domestic carrier once again start in major/secondary airports that have the least amount of players. At the beginning the demand of passangers outweighs the supply by airlines so fully booked planes shouldn’t be a problem.
As for the plane I have noticed it’s almost always A320’s,739’s,E95’s for domestic and 788’s for International flights.
As for seating I just use what I plan on using in the future so I don’t have to change them later.
These are just my observations and opinions, hope they helped. But I’m sure a seasoned player will offer more insight and help
Corrected the 777’s to 788’s (oops had 777 on my mind)
I got a bit bored at playing in Aspern after about two years. I might give it a go.
But first I'd like to know the setup. I really liked the no used aircraft thing in Aspern !
I think it would make sense business wise for AS team to close those servers that are not very popular. For example Aspern is pretty dead communication wise.

I don't think that players that play on such servers (e.g. me and others) would appreciate your suggestions. And I also think there would be a lot of outcry and a substantial reduction of player base were that to happen (and before it happening I am sure there would be a lot of other alternative solutions than just shutting down any particular server).
While old servers are not very profitable, with the new servers that were installed some time ago, it is my understanding that the operation of legacy servers is now cheaper.
And BTW how do you define a server not being popular? It is popular for players that were able to grow to size by patience and strategy. If you feel that server is unpopular because people don’t talk to YOU, we’ll don’t take it personally but then there is something wrong and you should seek some other real life options where you can go and talk and talk. … and feel being popular because of being talked to…(a couch and a guy sitting on a chair next to it may be one of those…) … just saying.
The no used aircraft part kinds of level the playing field from the get-go but I prefer the classic 737 over the modern ones.
It would make business sense but with some of the mega airlines still playing, its a little unfair to shut down the server just because there is only a few people left. What they can do is probably offer those players an incentive to "migrate" to a existing server in exchange for extra credits to thank them. In a way, you need to negotiate with the existing players before arbitrary shutting down.
When it comes to communication, it feels dead even on existing server. It would be good if they replaced the fuel chart at the login page with a form of a chat board. *sometimes you just get bored scheduling flights
Sh3rmanz, I don’t think 500, 1000 or even 2000 credits would placate anybody that had his airlines worked on for years . I myself spend 16 credits per day so 2000 credits would be 4 months of current game play. I would rather prefer to keep my airlines than Get 2000 credits.
There are always openings even on old servers. For example on one of the servers where I play, just recently airlines in Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Arabia, México etc. went bankrupt with huge openings.
There is always space to be found, but I agree there should be more incentive for new players to come to the old servers. I suggested private loans to help with growth of new players, but even increase in startup capital would be good. I personally support new players by accepting their interlines if they dare to write a message, even if they are new airline, for as long as they are not trial accounts. I also provide very cheap leases at 10% for the first few months until the player gets his airline going and is on a path of stable growth. I can also offer terminals for cheap prices as well as participation in IPO with guaranteed 200% over subscription. Other players on other servers offer similar assistance.
Communication wise, our alliance is active and communicates well using Whatsapp channels, Facebook and in game message board. I personally brought 4 new players to our server in the past 2 Weeks (from a competing sim), who with my help are now making substantial progress, are all profitable and on a path to steady growth. We have a private Whatsapp channel between the 5 of us, and it gets heavy usage. So how can anybody say there is no communication on any particular sever is beyond me. Just because someone keeps playing solo or his alliance is dead like a kangaroo run over by a truck in Australian bush, he/she has no right to say that the server is dead communication wise, simply because he has no way of knowing what others do or don’t do.
Rubio, I agree that even with credits, its not enough. But its still better than shutting down without anything at all (it was just a conversation, you do not need to get all defensive, I am not advocating for a shut down.)
I agree that most current player are rather helpful in game. The only reason why I am surviving in my current game is because of interlines.
And just because your alliance is active, you cannot fault someone else for feeling that there is no communication is their respective server. Honestly speaking, you do not have a right to deny another person of his opinion either. You may feel that the communication channels is active but others may not.
Just saying everyone is entitled to their own opinion
I personally like jumping into older servers and trying to start new airlines granted almost all have failed up to this point but it has giving me a chance to explore different regions and what to do and not to do. As for the communication I used to think nobody’s responding to my messages because I was the new guy. But that’s not always the case yeah some people are like that but for the most part it’s because this is a multi national online game and they don’t want to use google translate (or its equivalent) when communicating. Or in my case it could be because I like to role play while playing this game (some people really dislike that).
As for the new server yeah I’m going to try it out and might even try the international market this time.

Indeed, if I had spent 5 years building an airline only to have the server shut down on a developer's whim, I would not spend another second in this game no matter how many credits I still have left!
@ kruiseri: just because people don't reply to your messages (gasp, the horror!), that doesn't give you the right to ask for the complete and utter destruction of other people's hard work!
I think maybe the best way to keep players on servers is making the servers unique from each other. If two servers are the same, the player might just keep the airlines on one server because it feels the same on playing on either server. This statement might be wrong because i only play on one server.
@ kruiseri: The way you feel might be different from others. I choose KaiTak because it has old aircrafts, and i really love operating old, used planes like MD80s, DC9s...I'm even running 747SP right now though it is not so profitable. People staying on a server for a really long time definitely have their own reasons. Shutting servers down might be a worse idea than running it with low income because people might leave this game forever when their airlines were destroyed. And there is no way you can define popularity of each server anyway. About the communications, on old servers, players don't check their airlines that often. They know how the airlines go in the future several weeks with changes of the market. At least on KaiTak, if you check players last visit time, you will have an idea of how long it will take to get their responses.
This Quimby will be a open testing world to test the new AS 6.3 and will be closed after a couple of months. It won't be a beginner's world this time.
Well, quimby was always somewhat beginner in that respect that it had double the slots (and I think any aircraft could have been ordered) which lead to proliferation of old IL/DC8/707 planes
