Besides, AirlineSim is a strategic/tactical simulation, not an operational one. It should not be the task of a CEO to re-assign tail numbers in day-to-day operations.
Bu still we have lots of cancelled flights when an aircraft is in the wrong location. Why is that?? And if the user stays like 3 days without loging in for several reasons (study, work, travel), he might get a big loss, just because the game cannot automatically transfer an aircraft.
My company has 3115 employees, of which:
Fleet Managenment: 217
Flight Planning: 106
Network Planning: 223
So, why in the earth none of those employees cannot transfer the aircraft? Sometimes we change the schedule of an aircraft, but there are still flights running for 3 days, and we don't want to cancel them because they are fully loaded.. And the new schedule will also take 3 days to start flying, so the aircraft almost never end up in the desired airport (when the new schedule starts from the same airport).
So, please, stop this insanity and make an auto transfer feature. Or reduce the number of staff in these positions.
That's simple - the staff in the fleet management are technicans, lawyer, people from the purchasing departmend etc. - but nobody has a pilot licence.
To get serious ... it is not easy for the system to recognize if there is a new schedule or an uncomplete schedule. In the 2nd case an automatic transfer would be the wrong way.
No, it can be easy to the system to recognize. I'm a programmer myself. When a new flight schedule is activated, you can trigger something to tell the system that this aircraft has a schedule change.
Or you can even create a script that detects when a defined number of flights are cancelled due to wrong airport, and then transfer it to the airport that has the higher number of departures in this schedule.
Most people fly an aircraft from their hub to another airport, and then come back.. And this could be activated in the Settings, so those who fly mostly ad-hoc flights don't get their aircraft transfered to another wrong location.
Deardevelopers!I respectyour work, but we livein the 21st Сentury! You can't say"it's difficultfor the system".Letyour teamhiredtalentedprogrammers, who will do everything!Ina real airlineto make a scriptthat automatically rotation graph/collocateaircraft -takes 1-2workingdays.
I’vebeen watchingfor over 1 year. Unfortunately, the gameisnot interestingbecause it’s one-sided. Gameplaylike is a monotounous work Airlineschedule manager (
Samplethe mid-1990s), but not modern director or general manager.Currently in all Alirlinesany schedules complete-upautomatically, withouthuman intervention.
I don'tz know which airline you are refering, but the one I know well do have a departmend of mathematics who are planing manualy the schedules and also manualy do a constantly tail assign. There is of course an assisting computer system but this one costs some millions of Euros and is definetely not done in 1/2 working days.
It's very easy to say "there are a lot of things more important than this".
What's the point of this section, then? If you don't want any user suggestion (as seen by the number of posts with suggestions and the number of replies and suggestions implemented. Of course not all suggestions are useful and/or practical), then remove the section.
In my opinion, a suggestion posted here is to improve the game, which will bring benefits for everyone, including the dev team (which will have a better product running).. And also this is not a community, it's a paid game.
I have been playing this game since 2009.. I used to play another game, with a better user support and much more playable (the user interface), but switched for ALS because of it's more realistic economic and operational model.. But it's difficult to have play a game with an outdated user interface and concepts AND a team that does not like to implement improvements to make THE GAME better, not my life or any other user's life.
Don't take it personally, but this is how i see the devs team posture.. Reluctant to 'welcome', accept and implement users requests. Correct me if i am wrong.. But i'm tired to see good will users posting exciting or really needed ideas and requests and just getting a "no, we have more important things" as an answer.
I don't mean to offend anyone, so, please, don't take it personally.. I'm a customer not very satisfied with the current "customer service".
It is one thing to post improvement suggestions. We are considering them, judging the time effort needed, the importance und relevance for all player. And we are improving airlinesim of course - we had a new function presented yesterday in the Frankfurt AirlineSim-Convention which will be published in the nex few weeks. We also have hundreds of Airports checked and updated and we will add some 25 airports with this too.
But it is another thing to underline a personal wish as the most important request and call everything else outdated and argue that this is only a thing of a few hours without knowing the complexity of AirlineSim and the influences of the several parts.
There is of course an assisting computer system but this one costs some millions of Euros ...
Very strange price. The first major development of the system «Schedule» have appeared in Russia in 2001. This is the offline version of the software (MySQL).
The software product developed by a private company “Institute of management systems Air Transport” Currently, more than 20 Russian Airlines use this application. (It’s a pity that the application is only in Russian interface).
The cost of installation system (SQL) – is about 7500 euros (I remember 2007). Application include 25 jobs + Filled world airport actual directories. Monthly support – is about 1500 euro. The application is able to read and recognize movement messages MVT (SITA and AFTN format).
The application is compatible with the Reservation system "Sirena". (Download the information loading flights, as well as have access to a database of e-tickets).
Currently, there are web-version, but I didn’t use it because went to another job of the airline.
Maybe you're confused? Million Euro is the price for developing, which allows to automatically upload data seat-resource in reservation booking system. Currently airline personnel manually enter the data resource in the system (for example Amadeus, Sabre, Gabriel...)
Silly question. Do the above arguments cater for those players that cheat? For example in know of one in particular (not the first or last I’m sure) who, due to a slot blocked airport, booked a one way flight. Say it was JFK-ORD. and no return flight. In the case of an automatic transfer the aircraft would automatically be returned every day to JFK despite no slots existing for a return flight to JFK.
I’m not saying this is a reason not for an automatic transfer, just maybe a factor.
What I would love to ask for is a planned transfer, as I for one try my best, but do have some flights cancelled due to aircraft been in wrong place 72hours later
Dear boys! Things of which we are discussing (flight cancellation, etc.) is still wrong. :D Developers need to think and work hard to release flight delays and other options in AS.
Show at least one Airline that cancels flights due error arictafy schedule turnaround/rotation! No such fools-airlines! In this case,
a) Urgent flight by reserve aircraft (In the major Airlines always have a reserve airplane)
If variant a impossible
flight delay
or:
c) automatic rebooking all passengers to another next flight
c) The fixed-term lease (charter) aircraft for the flight from another Airline
By default, theplaneofany wrongplaceback onthe base.
By default, the aircraft from any wrong location always back-flight tothe base airport.
@Elekmanor: AirlineSim is a strategic-tactical simulation by definition. What you are suggesting are features of an operational simulation. Two very different things.
Delays might find their way into AS some day, but if when they do, you will only be able to react to them in a passive fashion. That is, you as the CEO take measures to reduce delays.

Somehow agree with your point. Players can even get free transfer flights without paying the fuel cost. That is like a kind of "cheating" as well.

At this moment, the CEO in game plays an even more passive and strange role. He every moment monitoring schedule and prepare aircraft rotation graph. The CEO in AS - is the schedule manager only.
Draw the line of charge! Make it so that one Airline was not one player! This is very interesting! Someone - is the director, someone else.
Players are ready to play in a team! You see - they create alliances, communicate ...
I have a suggestion to help prevent cancellations of the first scheduled flights of planes. I don't know if this has been suggested before but it works for me.
Within a day or so after leasing or purchasing an aircraft, and after creating a schedule for it, go to the fleet management page.
Click on the "Flights" button (to the right of the green "Scheduling" button) for the plane in question.
Within a day or less of having created the schedule, the scheduled flights of the given plane will start appearing on this page.
The departure airport of the first-shown scheduled (revenue) flight is where the airplane will need to be, so schedule a transfer flight there.
Note: If the airplane is located somewhere on the other side of the world from where I expect to need it to be, I immediately schedule a transfer flight to my hub or an airport near where I expect it to be needed; that way, if I need to re-transfer the plane, it won't take as long to get there.
I propose to consideranother potentialoption — in the default settings:
1. Alwaysdeliver theaircraft to baseairport, or airport [code]
2. Startingthe firstflight (rotation cycle)from the base airport only
As a general rule,if the Airline lease new aircraft, airplane delivered to thebase airport, where the commissionof techniciansittakes and signed the official actof acceptance.
