Hey guys, so I am debating to either buy the B737-700BGW or the E195 on my shorter flights that are always full with high demand but am unsure of which one I should get. This will be for my 1000km-2500km routes, maybe 3000 but highly doubt it since the medium routes I have chosen the A320. Which one do you guys recommend?
E95 is not really good beyond 2500km unless you get the AR or LR version. Have you checked the aircraft evaluation tool on some of your routes?
This is what I figured out comparing the E95 to the 737-600 and -700:
-- If you're going to use upgraded seats (meaning Leisure/Leisure Plus for Econ, RL or LF for Business), and your route is 2500km or less, the -600 and E95 carry basically the same amount of passengers. When you talk about the -700 with the same type of seating, you are getting maybe 10-15 more seats. For those seats, you are going to pay $575,000 more in down payment and $57,500 more a week in lease payments compared to an E95.
-- The -700 has higher fuel burn, maintenance, and average crew costs.
When you start adding all that up over several weeks/months, you start talking significant numbers. There are two main advantages of using the -700, from what I can see, is higher capacity for economy when you want to get high ratings using comfort/comfort plus seats. The second advantage, and maybe the more important advantage, is the ability for the -700 to be upgraded to an -800 or -900 without a problem with slot changing. The E95 is the top of the 830 km/h transporters.
Hi,
why go for the 73G if you have chosen Airbus for your medium routes ? Why not choose between E195 and A319 ?
I would rather save a maintenance type ;-)

Exactly what I thought :)
A318 actually has a better profit margin, and is cheaper than A319. The disadvantage is the range of A318 Light.

why B737 if you already use airbus A320 ?
use A318 its wonderful airplane
and you will keep clean maintenance space
Go for CRJ instead of E170/E190 and forget the 737 if you are allready flying A320.
You have to compare also the real seating possibilities for your airline.

Having both the 737 and 320 series is nonsense because of the maintenance categories. So if you already use A320, it is a choice between A318/319 and E95. The E95 has usually a somewhat higher margin than the smaller narrowbodies on short-haul routes but the capacity is also a little bit lower. If you have only a few of such routes you described, you can use the A318 as a supplement. However if you want to cover smaller markets as well (70-110 seats), the Embraer family is very useful.
As mentioned, if you run A320 family, you should stay away form B737 family to save maintenance cost. And instead of E-Jets also look into CRJ jets (700/900/1000). They have better economics per seat than E-Jets (e.g. CR7 vs E75, CRK vs E90). But then it goes down to personal preference. From purely economic perspectives, CRJ makes more sense than EJets. But I like my passengers to fly in comfortable aircraft that EJets are, and not in long thin tubes the CRJ aircraft are.
