As in Quimby we are all dashing around with old planes... I seem to miss the Boeing 720 on the list?
Well - there are some more missing, but they will be introduced as soon as we may offer a historic version ;)
I wish on the other hand that the 727 was removed :P
Along with some others like the IL-18D which just make the game very un-realistic.
If you want more realistic then go on any other of the "real" worlds. Quimby was always set up as a beginner try out server, and not to be realistic
Always had a soft spot for the B720. Flew on one from London Luton to Tunis with Monarch.
@ianmanson: The double traffic and slots is quite enough for the beginner... what is the use to have unrealistic plane models.. which then later on .. on a real server is totally different. All what you might have learned is lost then.
@ Koja78 what do you mean by unrealistic plane models? The Aircraft types are the same on all servers with the exception that on some servers only new models are available and on others older and newer models.
I mean the unrealistic costs of certain airplane types
There was demand when Quimby was set up by some users for unlimited older aircraft so that’s what happend. Those that disagreed stayed away from Quimby.
Unrealistic costs of running? Or lease payments?
I'm rather sure he's referring to unrealistic capital costs which they sure are.
On Quimby, AS is offering classics as factory fresh airframes, yet charges prices as if they'd still run off a manufacturing line in the 1960's.
The dollar increased by factor 7 to 8 from 1960 til today, but classic airframes still wear those 1960's price tags.
Take the 707-320C: It can be had for 14m$ in the game - inflation-adjusted I'd expect it at at least 90m$ in AS (on Quimby) as a 2014's brandnew airframe.
Sure, once inflation-adjusted those classics would be out of the game again...
@AK is spot on...
And all in all... no problem if the classics are cheaper... but the difference is huge!
Which means... if you start an airline with modern planes on quimby.... then you just can't compete growth wise with those flying the older beasts.
@AK: Completely off-topic, but would you be so kind and remove or drastically shrink the pictures in your signature? They are nice and all...but they disturb the reading low a lot, especially when they are 3 or 4 times as high as the actual content of your post. Thank you very much.

Oops…
Usually browse the forums in mobile mode - no signature there - and didn’t realize that they are that disturbingly large when I recently switched images.
Done, thanks for the info.
