Maybe this could be helpful for a future patch 
Generally speaking, weight variants in AS are only partially reflected (for example: light, medium and heavy variants for Airbus, HGW versions for Boeing etc.).
The article you linked to reads like the increased takeoff weight actually requires physical adjustments, so applying it to all existing frames retroactively would technically be wrong. That said, we support introduction dates of weight variants even less than weight variants as such 
At the end of the day, it’s effectively @Priller’s call whether these variants warrant a new variant in AS. Long-term, things like this should and hopefully will be covered by a feature on the roadmap.

The “HGW” or “IGW” variants will be added. I know what AS will do with just an MTOW change but I’ll have to see if I’ll have to configuring it for payload or range.
It’ll be a new model and will not be retroactively applied over the existing model.
