That depends on the prices you charge to reach that LF… 78% LF at 100% prices is definitely worse than a 65% LF at 170% prices. So, Loadfactor alone isn’t a good guide, it’s the underlying faktors that make the biggest difference.
Okay, but high LF usually is an indication of a healthy airline, although it definitely isn’t the only one, nor do we use it to determine how financially healthy airline is.
Was facing the same question just today. Decided to stay on Croydon were im playing for about 2 months now (fresh meat), because its not going to be interesting to start in the new world and just grab traffic and slots. More competition is more interesting for me.
I was also thinking about closing my airline and opening a new one on the new server, but then I figured out that it might not be a really good idea.
First of all, I was kind of emotionally connected with my airline. I mean, I’ve spent so much time into creating corporate design, choosing my mission and strategy, creating a solid Hub&Spoke system with two groups of destinations, choosing fleet that fits the market best, creating a nice wiki page about it,… I couldn’t forget about it all just like that.
I also didn’t want to fight with technical issues new server might have. Don’t get me wrong, I do trust guys at AS Team, but technical problems always occur, no matter how well everything is prepared.
Furthermore, I would rather start-up in the game world that existed for a while and work my way up. I know it’s much harder to create a mega-ultra-uber-huge-global airline that way, but I don’t really feel much need to be a CEO of one. It depends on how you look at the game, what your mission is and the size of your ego. So it’s just like in the real world: “A lot of the airline business is driven by egos and dreams rather than real business sense.” - not sure who I’m quoting, sorry.
Wow, I sound so old, even older than sobelair…
Just kidding Jan, but you asked for it with your sig
Just to be sure, if you don’t want to play on Croydon any more, make sure to also remove your account from that server, else you’re paying 2 credits per day without having any use from them. Just a friendly hint.
You thin it is always easy on a new server? Try starting in the carribbean with no big airlines to provides connections There are some very tricky places to start where it is far from easy - even Europe and US where it is relatively easy will become harder when competition airlines start growing. Obviously it will be very easy if you do AMS-LHR in the beginning but where’s the fun in this…
