Crazy stuff in the ORS

I'be been playing recently with the ORS... seen some weird stuff here and there, but this is too much :) :

You can hide these with a selectable option above in the settings. ;)

What? Hide the fact that First Class pax are being transported in the cargo hull?

Not a bad idea, but don't you think they'd be complaining to the Consumer Protection Agency once they are being done processing and finished exiting the cargo terminal? Hmm....

OT

the guy is genius! not even "the famous alliance" have thought of selling cargo space as First class seat ^_^

Can you configure cargo aitcraft with seats at all?

LOL.

Sir, your username may not have reflected your ability accurately, since you are clearly the one with the focus here.

I missed the fact that those F class pax are "seated" in the cargo space at first glance too....great observational skills I must say.

Haha Calvin...

Mind you, it does not say "focus more !"

It says more focus  ;-)

So what has happened Martin ? Did he discover a bug ? At least the overall rating is too low to get any bookings.

This thread is tempting me to try out a cargo plane with Full First class passengers ;P

pack'em in a box and you're good to go!

Yep Calvin... real self loading cargo.

But in the mean time, there is still no explanation for what happened here...

Jan

Hi,

perhaps someone from the team can explain what happened ?

Thanks,

Jan

Nothing happened ... that is an invalid connection and would never be booked and can be disabled by not showing invalid or full coonections (as stated in the first reply)...

Hi Sascha,

your first reply only stated we can hide such connections   ;-)

So if I get it right, the ORS works in two stages. It first looks for all possible connections, and then filters out (doesn't book) connections that are not valid.

Cheers,

Jan

Yep, that is right.

That Cargo space has enough legroom! :D

You could do away with cabin staff too. Another saving...

I keep searching routes in the ORS where it says nothing exist. Recently I was looking at MIA-MDW in aspern and it showed nothing but ground based connections. So I bought a plane and put it on the route to to find someone is flying it. Very odd it's happened at least twice.

Does the other guy have seats available for sale?  If they don't have passenger rights, the flights wouldn't appear in the ORS unless you were searching for cargo flights.

OK, here's another interesting one.

I operate a route A - B, two flights a day, with two distinct planes.

EVERYTHING IS IDENTICAL, as is reflected in the identical product factors and image factors (see print screens below).

However, for some crazy reason, the Product overall* and the Price performance ratio* recorded in the top box of the flight rating page are NOT the same.

While for Flight 1 they do indeed coincide with the values recorded in the second box (product factors) ("correct"), for Flight 2 they do not coincide and are significantly LOWER ("wrong").

Accordingly, the two flights are rated differently in the ORS:

- Flight 1 has 79 for C and 73 for F;

- Flight 2 has 61 for C and 37 for F.

How in the world is this possible?

(Again, every single thing is identical, except departure time. Also no competitor has added or removed flights, or changed their price, or any other change one can think of.)

Edit: this is not the only route for which I have noticed this.

Edit 2: even more interesting, for the SAME flight ("Flight 2") the ORS shows the "wrong values" (rating 37 for F) for the flight on Jan. 16, but then the "correct ones" (i.e. same as for Flight 1, e.g. rating 73 for F) for the flights on Jan. 17 and 18.
