Decing for AirlineSim - reasons why should I chose it?

Hello guys,

I have set up trial accounts with couple of sims, basically 3 major ones - Airlinesim, Airwaysim, and Airline Empires.

I liked airline empires at first, but basically it is more game than a simulation. Game - because you can make unrealistic amount of money in very short time. In less than 2 weeks real time (3 years playtime), my airline is worth over 65 billion dollars, has 1200+ aircraft of which 400+ are idle, and makes 300+ million operating profit per day. Imagine when the remainder of 400+ aircraft is put on route. I developed excel spreadsheet system so I can keep track of routes and revenue differences and act where necessary.

But I am getting tired of this rat race to click-and-fly. The 95% difference maker among airlines is price, so whoever offers the lousiest service with high frequency with cheapest planes and undercut price get most money. People do not analyze, they undercut you even if they could make more money by matching your rate (e.g. because demand is not met). Again, it's the same click-and-deploy mentality.

I have studies business administration and I want more thought-provoking sim. A simulation where I have to challenge my business skills and not my hand wrist that goes sore by clicking and deploying planes for an hour at the time. Click and deploy. Click and deploy. And still 400+ planes left idle.

So I am considering airlinesim and airwaysim. Basically, the only real difference I see between the two is how fast the time runs. In airwaysim it's 30/mins of real time for 1 day of playtime, here in airlinesim its 1day/1day as I understand it.

So my question is: why should I chose AirlineSim? I mean, it could take many many months just to make some money in the sim so as not to be broke. I mean, if I wanted to run a real-time airline as airlinesim is designed to work, i would get some funding and start my own airline (haha). THAT would be the sim of the life! And would be in real-time, too...

So basically, to sum up, can you name reasons why airlinesim is better (than aireaysim), and especially, why do you think real-time (1day/1day) is better than accelerated time? And how long would it take to get some decent airline running. (I have been looking through threads and I understand it can take months of time to get very profitable airline). But really, come on, what is the average time to get manageable airline that is ENJOYABLE for you to manage? And which one you can come to every day with keen intent (and not coming in reluctantly because of 400+ idle planes waiting for you).

And one last question, what is the bulk of time you seasoned players spend most time on when playing airlinesim? In airline empires, it's clicking and deploying planes (I can get $4/hour unskilled labor for that, haha). Do you spend most time on things that make your brain sore (thinking/analyzing), or your wrist sore (clicking)?

Thank you for your valuable inputs.

To make it simple - and from my point of view - accelerated time sucks. That's what I love with AirlineSim and that's one of the reasons for why I've been playing this game for almost 10 (!) years now. Talk about long term motivation!

And honestly, the game is pure joy from the first day you start a new enterprise - size doesn't matter, you know.

It depends on what you consider a "decent airline", but I for one can say that after a few weeks or so, all my airlines were running healthy. Today I'm focusing on my one mainline (+ daughter) and all other ventures are for pure joy. When they are doing fine, great, otherwise they get deleted. No big deal.

The bulk of time spent with AS is clicking around for pure joy, going through statistics, looking at routes, clicking here and there. The "must look for my airline time" is really short once you managed to set up your airline the propper way. Talk about minutes/day, via the smartphone. And it wont change a lot when I'm not logging in for a week or so.

Same as AK says, "Accelerated time sucks"! I tried Cyberairlines, Airlineempires, Airwaysim, Airline Mogul, MyAirline, Airline Manager and airline 7 (So I have a rough idea :P) This is by far the most ultimate sim ever! it is truly "The only airline simulation of its kind"!

It is a much more dynamic sim too, with economy and other stuff. And one of my favorite parts is that, unlike Cyberairlines and airline manager, the plane stats are spot on! in Airline manager a 777-200 has like 440 seats (or something... haven't played for a while) and the 777-200LR had like 100 more seats!

This sim also has a lot more thinking involved, it's not like AirlineEmpires where any route works if you lower the price.

I check on about twice a day to check on the bookings and I'm done. I will say though, there is a lot of thinking and analyzing, but when you get it to work you are proud of yourself! (lol) So without a doubt pick Airlinesim (And i'm speaking with experience :P)

you won't get any better game! (Trust me   :D)

This is an amazingly realistic game. Join in now, and you will have some stiff competition. You will still be able to give them a run for their money. The best part is, you can outthink and outsmart them, and you will see instantaneous changes in market shares. This will mean your competition will take action too.

Its too much fun. I've been playing for nearly 3 years, and words just dont do this game justice.

It’s the best airline simulation. I’ve played at AirwaySim a lot, but it does not compare to AirlineSim. Now, I only play AirlineSim because it challenges you more. You need to think, to interline, to adjust schedules. It’s a social and economical game.

Despite of recent changes in the economic modeling of the game, this game is more difficult and that’s part of the fun. That’s the reason recent changes in demand calculator has been so controversial. We want this game to remain difficult and more enjoyable than any other.
