It appears that one of the next updates is likely to include delays. Before that is implemented I hope there will be some guidance as to how the system is planning to handle it and what we can do to mitigate the effects of delays. Are we going to need to leave a (bigger) gap between flights? This will lead to serious slot issues if we have to completely revamp our schedules to accommodate this change.
If a flight is delayed over the time of another flight what happens? Will it automatically cancel? Or will it delay as well? At what point will the delay lead to cancellations and refunds?
If a slotted flight misses its slot will it take the next available and delay someone else? Or will you just be completely out of luck if an airport is running at or near full capacity?
I'm guessing that if one runs near 100% utilization we are going to run into major issues with the new system as suddenly our planes no longer get enough maintenance time and thus cancellations.
One would hope that having your own terminals would reduce (not eliminate) the odds have having a delay.
