Delta's last DC-9 made it's final flight a few days ago, they are to be replaced with used MD-80s
Sad to see them go... i had the pleasure to fly a DC-9-51 from MEX to MSP about 15 years ago (NW) i will always remember that flight!!

And a nice photo from October, picturing 4 generations of McDonnel Douglas T-tails (although built by boeing, both 717 and MD-90 where already designed before take-over) http://www.airliners.net/photo/Delta-Air-Lines/Boeing-717-231/2338783/&sid=f58d8df075534c5c83ad997ee37f24a2
Delta seems to have a hard time leaving old jets behind, they were the last to retire the 727 as well.

Delta won´t directly replace the DC-9 with MD-80s. The Boeing 717 can be seen as a replacement. The MD-88/-90s are considerably larger. The Boeing 717 allows Delta to retire the last DC-9s and to replace larger regional-jets (which in turn will replace 50-seat aircraft).
It is nice to see that Delta will remain the most important opeators of the MD-80/-90s and 717s for many years to come.
I see you have added "MD-80.com" to your signature http://www.boeing-727.com/ is my response (and it is in english) like the aircraft, a bit less flashy but you can find everything you need and more, easily.
Always nice to see websites dedicated to specific aircraft! I have very fond memories of the 727. It was the standard-aircraft (alongside the 737-200) at Lufthansa during my childhood on domestic and European flights.
Btw. twenty of Delta´s DC-9-50s will probably be placed with PAWA Dominicana. Thie airline aism to re-start their ops with two DC-9-30s and an MD-82 and hopefully some of these DC-9-50s will be used in active service.
