Experience of using cheaper maintenance providers

Hi All,

In my (nearly) two years or so of Airline Sim, I have always used the two best maintenance providers - African and Helvetic. This time round, I have gone for cheaper and older aircraft, which have higher maintenance costs. Have any of you used the cheaper providers? and what has your experience been like? How does it effect maintenance ratio etc?

It would be good for long-range connections. for example, before a route takes 16 hours per round trip, and the maintenance ratio is around 200%. To fully use it, one has to insert some short range route. But with poor provider, the ratio is already 100%. If the extra short range route would earn as much as the difference of two provider, they are same. Otherwise, you can balance.

Ok - so correct me if I’m wrong. The supplier determines the maintenance ratio?

Can someone else comment on this?

Also, has anyone done a cost analysis? How much is the decrease in maintenance if switching providers? Is it enough to offset an decrease in the margin due to shorter flying time per week?
