I have been spending my hard earned money in the stock market in GATOW.
Each time I have funds I have been trying to buy more stocks in a particular airline (I won't say who for now). Now I was getting very near the point where I could take control of the company, which is my aim.
However, I have been beaten by someone who has started a new enterprise on 22 May with a nice £10m in cash, and has spent the lot on taking over the airline.
Surely this can't be right and fair?
What do you think, and can I do anything about this as I see it as unfair.
Sure this is a company belonging to a newly founded holding? There are restrictions on when you can buy stocks. Also, being able to beat you in buying out a company with only 10 mil sounds like you weren’t very comitted or the airline in question isn’t worth anything.
and last but not least, you wanted to take over another airline. Now, somebody else tries the same thing. Where isn’t that fair play?
as far as I know, you can only buy stocks after a period of two weeks. So an airline founded on may 21 must be a subsidiary of an existing holding to qualify for buying stocks. I might be wrong here. I was never into the AS stock exchange.
From my point of view the original poster wasted his money, check the traffic rights before trying to buy a new airline and check the public informations about debts and income even before thinking about an investment like this.
the original poster invested 15% into this airline before the new player arrived and took over the airline. the original poster is not forced to invest another 12 percent two days after this happened. Currently the original poster would have to invest less than 2.400.000 AS$ (7,5%) to take the biggest share.
There is another (dead) holding involved, which acted in favour of the original poster to buy shares cheaper.
This whole story looks very fishy. May the support check the details.
Now you've found the deals, yes it was OP Avia who bought a load of shares, but not enough to take over the airline. They bought them for 115AS$, then sold them all a few days later for 100AS$.
This owner also started another holding, and bought a load of shares again. Check the airline, called Russian Flyer, same owner, although OP Avia was then closed. It's not a subsidiary, and started operations on 22 May, then bought 102,000 shares at 98AS$, all 10M gone.
It doesn't look right to me. How can someone start a holding and spend all their starting capital on the shares of one airline to take control on the same day.
Please look into this, as it's not a fair way to play.
Out of the 80,000 shares you hold, youbought 40,000 off op avia yourself, the rest, you bought off aviatravel corporation. That’s where russian flyer got all of his shares from. So either you got your sharesfrom the same crook or everything’s fine.
If you are mad because somebody else bought anairline you meant to buy: too bad then.
And as it has already been pointed out: why would you want to buy that airline? You have no traffic rights in Russia and neither would that company if you had bought a controlling majority.
new companies are not allowed to support (subscribe) an IPO. That is because some players used to create a company, heavily support an IPO and then delete that company company. It was an easy way to "give" money to friends and alliance members.
After the IPO, everybody can buy. Also new companies.
I understand you're unhappy when somebody buys shares that you wanted to buy, but it is not unfair. It is how the market works. With hindsight, you are lucky that you did not buy all the shares... you would be flying empty passenger planes ;-)

Just report. Btw, forget about taking over that airline if you don't have right.

To the OP:
I do not see anything unusual about it, nor illegal.
Assume I want to leave the company as the main shareholder. I find somebody who is willing to take over. They simply register a new holding in that country, and buy my shares. They take control of my company and play it from now on.
Nothing unusual, business as usual.
If your intentions were to take over the company, you should have communicated with the player first.
Basically, what you were trying to do, was a hostile takeover. What the other player did, was a friendly buyout. Same as in Real Life. You wnat realism, so you have it, actually, served on a silver platter.
