Afternoon all,
Just wanted to see if there is a tool where I can find out what the biggest aircraft that an airport can handle? Or am I looking at the minimum ground roll take off vs the aircraft I want?
Thanks for any replies

Just take a look at the runway length of a particular airport and use the perfomance tool available to verify the performance of an aircraft type.
There are a few limitations possible for every airport. Take off and landing runway lengths are definitely something you want to consider. Also keep in mind some airports have noise restrictions, which keep different types from flying to/from those airports. There might be a few other little factors, but those are the biggest ones, and they aren't all that common to run into.
Thanks for your help. I'm assuming that the minimum ground take off roll is the distance I am looking at for a particular aircraft to land at an airport?
the ground take off roll is for taking off, obviously ;-)
you can't generalize these numbers. of course, the minimum runway lenghts have to be met both for landing and taking off. however, depending on the seatng configuration, these numbers shift. So if in doubt, always use the aircraft performance tool. it will allow you to see how much payload you can actually transport on a given route with a given aircraft. you usually won't need to be able to get 100% maximum payload of an a/c, as with better seats, you usually end up aound 75-80% or even less anyhow
Ive done that, but when the ground take off roll says 1600-1900, and I pick a plane that ground take off roll is 1850, does that mean that aircraft will land/take off there?

You’ll be able to operate to the airport if runway length is less than the upper limit of takeoff and landing distances. However, if runway length is greater than the lower limit of the distance range, you’ll be able to operate, but you may have payload restrictions. The more runway length that you have to work with; the more you can carry.
also right, the last post is a brain teaser... ;-)
easiest way remains: use the performance tool. it tells you exactly, how much payload you can use on a given route. and always make sure you check the return flight. you wouldn't want to get a plane stuck somewhere... ;-)
Actually the way I do it, when I am in odd-sized airports (like LCY etc.), I would take a look at other servers, and see what airplanes are taking off and leaving. Usually that gives a good idea about which planes that would work..
Thanks for the replies
