Hi, I have thought about having real world weather in airlinesim, that would mean, that if theres a storm at an airport in real life, and flights would be canceled, flights would get canceled in airlinesim, I obviously dont know how posible this would be, but I think it would be cool to have that
Not possible as simulation would be way too heavy for all possible cases of Disaster.
I love the idea of it, but it would be difficult to implement. What if there was a start up company and suddenly 100s of cancellations makes them go bankrupt as well.
I think I need to add this phrase somewhere at the top of the handbook as I have to repeat it so often:
AirlineSim is a strategic/tactical simulation, not an operational one.
What this means is that players shouldn’t have to deal with low-level day-to-day stuff as this would require them to log on all the time to actively react to things happening in the game.
That said, since weather and the resulting disturbances are very much a part of real-world aviation, I intend to add this sort of stuff in a way that it can be addressed on management level. See auto-ops on the roadmap for an entry point.
Weather based cancellation in real time wouldn’t need micromanagement.
What need player to decide instead, is for players to set strategies how player’s airlines to handle camcellation.
- How are passengers compensated and extra acvomodation cost etc
- Whether signing agreement with other airlines to help stranded passengers get to their destination
- etc
- Aircraft location need reposition is already supported
In real life this would impact small airlines more than large airlines, but I think it can be reversed by varying degree of impact based on airlines size
