I have a shorthaul route where I use different seat configurations, i.e. there are planes with "real" shorthaul configurations (Recliner Shorthaul/Leisure Plus) and planes that only do "fillers" between longhaul flights, so they have much better seats. All other factors (particularly the price) are equal.
Now when I look at the flight ratings, the rating for the factor "price" is much lower for the shorthaul configuration (1 green vs. 3 green in Economy, 3 red vs. 3 green in Business). That is for the same price. What I would expect is the same rating for the same price, no matter which seat is used. There is a product factor "seats" that reflects the seat quality and results in a lower price performance ratio.
Can someone explain why this was implemented the way it is?
Frank ... though I cannot explain what you ask... I want to chime in with a grain of knowledge, and that is that as per my ORS research Leisure plus and Leisure will give you exact same ORS rating on routes of up to 2500 km (I have not checked farther than that). So do not waste money and space on Leisure Plus.(and you can check yourself)
Frank, I don't think that this "feature" was part of the new cabin configuration tool. IIRC there has always been more in the price rating than just a comparison of the ticket price to the default price for the route. I always imagined that it had something to do with the plane type too, so a jet price automatically has a better rating than the same for a prop for example.
Rubiohiguey2000, unless you have access to all of the data making up an ORS score your research cannot prove this. The configurator tool shows a clear difference of +1 bar on a 739. What it might prove, is that for the routes and product offerings you were testing, is that the difference between the two seat types was not enough to affect the ORS score by at least a point (which is the lowest difference we are able to check). It could well be true that for many routes, the difference is not worth it; but where competition is fierce then it might be.
