Fokker 70/100

I would like to know the opinion of other players about running a fleet of Fokker 100 and Fokker 70.

I know they aren´t in production nowadays but in my opinion they are really profitable, at least the 100 series, and have also quite good image rating.

So I open this topic to talk about it, cause everybody talk about 737-300 but there isn't a lot of information about this airliners.

I have almost 40 of them and I m quite happy so what is your opinion?

IMO the Fokker 100 is a very efficient and fine aeroplane at Airlinesim. It is a classic 100-seater. The Fokker 70 is a little bit tricky however due to rather high operating costs.

I m not an expert, but something I don't understand is why the fuel consumption of fokker 70 is much bigger than in Fokker 100. Does it have an explanation?

That always makes me wonder too. The Fokker 70 probably generates higher seat mile costs compared to the bigger Fokker 100 in real life but operating costs should be lower. I believe that most original operators accepted this fact similar to the operatos of the MD-87 and larger MD-80series.

The Fokker 70 operates with de-rated RR-Tays IIRC.

O currently have 49 F100. Its a very good acft. Low cost, fuel efective, and good image.

The F70, its not so good…i had 20, but they use lots of fuel. Its only profitable in a few routes…

...currently have 49 F100

That´s really a nice and sizeable fleet! Over the years I also operated Fokker 100s but at the moment two Fokker 100s only. They are fitted to seat 100 passengers (all-economy) and they are doing really well. Quiet sad that the Fokker 70 seems to be problematic at airlinesim.

On a personal note, one of the most pleasant flights I ever had was on a Fokker 100 of Mexicana in the late 1990s (Mexico City-Merida).

The Fokker 100s of Mexicana really looked nice and cute!

I have to concur, I always loved flying on that little Fokker (excuse the cheap pun). In fact I remember a flight I was on a couple years ago with the - sadly - now defunct Contact Air, where I was the only (!) passenger on board. Never enjoyed better service than on that flight. ;)

The FAs offered me to sit up front and were quite baffled when I insisted on staying where I was - the very last row, right next to the engines. I told them I booked that seat on purpose, and they couldn´t believe it. :P

I think I know why they went defunct. ;) Sorry, couldn't resist.

On topic, I have always been drawn to the smaller jets like the Fokker 70/100s, old Boeing 737s, and even the Yaks. Just something about them.

I have a fleet of:

43 Fokker 100's (21 owned, 22 leased)

44 Fokker 70's (all owned, not leased)

24 Fokker F28-4000 (all owned)

20 Fokker 50's (all owned). I use this plane for another sub of mine.

My goal is to get all Fokker aircraft available on Pearls! :)

I like the Fokker 100 the most. They are making good money. The Fokker 50 are making good money as well. The Fokker 70 is much harder to operate. I have seated them with relatively much Business seats and making profit up to 25-30%. The Fokker 70 with less Business seats are making profit between 5-10%. For the F28-4000 its about a small loss, break even or a small profit. So not a very efficient plane and money maker, but nice to have.

Very nice! If I recall correctly, the livery was slightly different when I flew.

IIRC Mexicana maintained 21 (!) different tail-designs (different colors, patterns). I really liked their approach. Mexicana later reduced the number of different patterns and colors to 7 (??) due to very high costs to maintain such a policy. Btw my MD-80s of Sparrow Air also have different tail-colors: The original red Sparrow on a white tail and others with soot on the tail, dirt on the tail and cone, exhaust trails in different shades and patterns produced by JT8D-200s  .

Don´t forget the ones that sport a bare metal tail. Well, on the underside anyway. Due to the regular tailstrikes by your overfatigued pilots... :P

So you have the ability to operate the Fokker F28 nicely. This menas that the Fokker 100 is a very easy aircraft for you! Nice fleet btw!

 The CEO of Sparrow Air is not aware that tail-strikes happened. He claims in regard to the accusations that the runways were too close to the tails of the aircraft ;) .

I have right now a fleet of 55 F100 in my main company, they make good money and are "easy" to fill.

In one of my subsidiaries I only fly with f28 and I m earning money with all of them...by the way it's a pitty that they are so old.

With F70...I ve tried them but by now i m not able to work with them in an efficient way.
